1930-2011Lois F. Stout RyanLoving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother passed to the other side of the veil to the waiting arms of Heavenly Father and loved ones, on April 8th in Vernal, Utah, surrounded by her family.She was born May 21, 1930 to Don Grisby Stout and Odelia Margaret Pflum Stout. She was the sixth of seven children. She was raised in Ogden, and graduated from Ogden High School in 1948. On May 28, 1948, she married the love of her life, William Henry Ryan, in Ogden, to this union was born four children, and they were later sealed in the Ogden Temple for eternity. They moved to Hooper Utah, in 1957 where they raised their children, and lived for most of their lives, and also where they became very active in community service and activities. In 2004 mom moved from Hooper to a senior living development in West Haven, Utah. She became a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints in her mid thirties, where she served in numerous positions. She was one of the original ladies in the first Womens Barrel Racing Association to help get a charter from the state. She was instrumental in making the first flag for the association. She was a beautiful seamstress, and made all her childrens clothes, and husbands shirts. She served as a 4-H sewing teacher in Hooper for a few years. She also was an excellent cook, always sharing and giving to others from her kitchen. She enjoyed entering sewing and cooking projects in the Hooper Fair. Where she received many awards. Mom and dads home always was a place where others felt welcome, and never left with an empty stomach or a frown on their face. They were also foster parents to several teenage girls. She was on the board of directors for East Canyon Resort. Mom and dad loved the outdoors, camping, hunting and fishing. Mom had a great love for beautiful flowers, and the vegetable garden. Her and dad always had plenty for others and gave freely of their abundance. She retired from Hill Air Force Base, after 28 years of services as a computer programmer specialist, where she received many awards for her ideas on how to save the government money, and new ideas for programming. In her later years the love of her life was her grand children and great-grandchildren. They will miss her very much, as will those who really knew her. She is survived by her children, Marsha Ann Owens (William), Williams James Ryan (Nancy), and Cindy Marie Larsen (Rex), her grandchildren, Lori Ann Owens Cook (Wes), David Andre Owens (Nikki), and Shayson Larsen, Great-grandchildren, Cole Cook, Chloe Cook, Andru Owens, Alexis Owens, and Abigail Owens. Her sister Ann Brady, and a special friend, Maxine Dickamore. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and most of her siblings along with their spouses, plus two grandsons, William Bradley Owens, and Matthew Ryan Owens. Much appreciation goes out to all those who helped her the last few years, as her health declined. Neighbors, friends, nieces, nephews, and family members. We hope you all know who you are. Another thanks goes out to the Bonneville Dialysis Center and their staff, and the Vernal Dialysis Center along with their loving staff. A very special thanks to Dr Harry O. Senekjian.Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, April 16, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Leavitts Mortuary, 836 36th Street, Ogden. Friends may visit Friday, April 15, 2011 from 6-8 p.m. and one hour prior to services both at the mortuary. Compassionate services will be given by the Fairgrove Ward of West Haven, Utah.
