Lora Dean Taylor Priest Galvez, passed away on January 7, 2023, in Harrisville, Utah. She was born January 26, 1933, in Ogden, Utah to Amos and Jeptha Ashby Taylor.
She loved her family and friends. She graduated from Weber High School in 1951 and attended both Weber State College and BYU.
Lora Dean was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in many callings. She served as Relief Society President, Relief Society Pianist and Teacher. She was always active in her calling as Music Director, from the time she was 12 years old.
She loved singing with the double trio (Modratones) from Harrisville and sang with them for 35 years.
Lora Dean was married to Jimmie Spencer Priest. They had three children together. Sharon (Gary) Mahas, Malta, Idaho, Blake (Jeanne) Priest, Ogden, and Mitchel Priest, North Dakota.
Lora Dean has five grandsons along with their wives and five great grandchildren. Lora Dean and Jimmie were later divorced.
Lora Dean loved singing, dancing and genealogy work. She worked as an ordinance worker in the Ogden Utah Temple for 3 years and as a worker in the Ogden Family History Library for 13 years.
In 2005, she met Fred Galvez dancing at the Golden Hour Center. They were married in 2006 and have enjoyed traveling the world together, dancing and serving in the church together. In 2012 they were sealed in the Logan Utah Temple. Fred passed away in September 2021.
Lora Dean is survived by all of her Priest family.
The Priest family would like to express our sincere gratitude to Maxine Grange, Lora Dean's dear cousin and to Annette, Lora Dean's Hospice Nurse for their loving care.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, January 12, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. with a Viewing held one hour prior to Service at Leavitt’s Mortuary 836 36th Street, Ogden, Utah.
Interment at Ogden City Cemetery.
