Lou Ann Newton Bessinger Our beloved Mother, Wife, Grandmother, Sister and dear friend, Lou Ann Newton Bessinger, returned to her Heavenly Father on Thursday, December 26th, 2013 surrounded by family and loved ones. She was born August 10th, 1940 in Tremonton, Utah to Edward Elton (Bish) and Mary C. Buxton Newton, the youngest of three daughters. Lou Ann married her sweetheart, Steven Bessinger on April 12, 1968 in the Logan Temple. Together they raised two beautiful sons. As a mother, she was a gentle, comforting spirit, always concerned about her children and their well being. She was a supportive wife and hard working mother, who spent her life serving others with charity, love and kindness. As a young girl, she spent long days working on their family farm with her siblings and learned the value of hard work. She enjoyed her childhood and loved playing with her sisters, neighbors and cousins. Lou Ann attended schools in Tremonton, graduated from Bear River High School and attended Weber State College. Lou Ann began her early employment working at Steeds Dairy Bar in Tremonton, which was a favorite among the locals. She also worked for Thiokol Chemical Corporation, Weber State College and retired from Ogden Community Action where she was awarded the Utah Womens Achievement Award from Governor Olene Walker in 2004, for Contributions to the Field of Literacy. A woman of faith, she was a member of the LDS Church and served in many callings including: Relief Society President, Primary, and Young Womens. She was an active member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. Lou Ann was a member of the Washington Terrace Lions club for 20 years, and served valiantly with her husband, Steve. She enjoyed serving others and helping those less fortunate. Lou Ann is survived by her loving husband, Steven Bessinger (Washington Terrace); beautiful sons Daniel (Jennifer) Bessinger, Roy, and Tracy (Cami) Bessinger, Washington Terrace; four wonderful grandchildren: Kassie, Bailey, Spencer and Boston. She is also survived by her sweet sister, Sherleen (Jan) Wynn, Mapleton & numerous nieces & nephew. She was preceded in death by her parents & sister, Marilyn Newton. Funeral services will be held Friday, January 3rd, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Leavitts Mortuary, 836 36th Street, Ogden. Friends may visit with family at Leavitts Mortuary on Thursday, January 2nd , 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and also Friday from 9:30 10:30 a.m. prior to the services. Interment will be held at the Honeyville Cemetery.
