Luana Petersen Gilbert, 88, passed peacefully on April 9, 2018. She was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, on April 25, 1929, the first child of Brian Lind and Wanda Davis Petersen. She attended schools in Los Angeles, California; Ely, Nevada; Coalville, Utah; and graduated from East High School in Salt Lake City in 1947. She married her love, Robert Warren Gilbert (Bob) in the Salt Lake City Temple in 1948. Their first home was in Los Angeles, California. Later they moved back to Salt Lake City where Bob worked for Young Electric Sign Company and Luana was a wonderful homemaker. Working for Young Electric took their young family to Las Vegas, Nevada, in 1957, and then on to Ogden, Utah, in 1967. They loved Las Vegas but were excited to move back to Utah to be near family. Luana served faithfully in the LDS Church in many capacities. Her favorite was serving in the Cub Scouts. She went on to earn her Silver Beaver Award. Luana is survived by five of her children, Launa (Brian) Morgan, J. Bryan (Ann) Gilbert, David (Lisa)Gilbert, Daniel Gilbert, and Matthew (Shelley Aiono) Gilbert; 20 grandchildren, and 25 great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death are her parents; her husband of 60 years; her daughter, Robin Fields; and her sister, Peggy Taplin MacArthur Cole. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2018, at 11:00 am at the Shadow Valley Ward, 5191 Old Post Road. Friends may call on Friday, April 20th, 6:00 8:00 pm at Leavitts Mortuary, 836 36th Street, Ogden, Utah, and 10:00 10:45 am at the church before the funeral. Interment will follow at Leavitts Aultorest Memorial Park.
