Lucile Fransler Lish Smith

Lucile Fansler Lish Smith - After 101 years of life, Lucy passed away peacefully in her home on March 6, 2022. Lucy was born October 9, 1920 to Horace and LaZoe Lish in Deweyville, UT. She was the sixth of seven children, two boys and five girls and was raised on their family farm. She graduated from Bear River High School where she was involved having the “BR” painted on the mountain in Tremonton and was very proud of that! She married George R. Smith on November 2, 1942 in Cheyanne, WY. Together they had 5 children and were sealed as a family in the Salt Lake City Temple in 1961.

She was a very active person her whole life, and was involved in The Daughters of Utah Pioneers, the Hill Air Force Base Ladies Association, Sunset PTA, was a Boy Scout Leader and she volunteered her time to count votes at every election. She was an active member of the LDS church and has held many positions over the years. She loved to travel and was lucky enough to visit Hawaii annually.

Lucy loved to work in her yard and decorate for every holiday. She even won several awards from Sunset City. One of her favorite decorations was her Easter Egg Tree. She and her family would hang hundreds of plastic Easter Eggs from a tree in her front yard. Everyone looked forward to helping each year.

In 2007 she met the second love of her life, her Shih Tzu Kona. They were companions for 14 years until he passed in December of 2021. She was also one of the biggest Jazz fans! Her family knew not to call or visit during a game because she would not answer the phone or the door.

Lucy is survived by her children: Marsha Hoskins, Kim Smith, Kathy Smith and Keri (Sheri) Smith and daughter-in-law Judy Smith. She has 18 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 62 years George R. Smith, her son Mark A. Smith, Her son-in-law Sherman Hoskins, her daughter-in-law Susan Smith and five of her six Siblings.

The family would like to thank Angie Hoskins, Sarah Hoskins, Lindsey Smith and their team of ladies for the love and amazing care they gave Lucy at her home.
