Lucile B. Swift's Obituary

In loving memory of our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. Lucile Bosgieter Swift passed away quietly at home on Friday, September 25, 2015, at the age of 91. She touched her family, friends, and ward members with a profound love for all those she met. She loved to spend time with her grandchildren teaching them to be kind, patient, and loving. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her. Her life began on October 23, 1923, in Ogden the first of seven children of William Simon and Hilda Leone Allen Bosgieter. As a carefree teenager she and a group of her friends got into some trouble throwing rocks at the street lights on Harrison Blvd and got reprimanded by the law. On April 30, 1938, her childhood changed from a carefree teenager and eldest in a family of seven children, to a substitute mother when her father passed away. She began raising her six siblings ages 12 and under with a set of twins 10 months of age while consoling her young grieving mother. She graduated from Ogden High School where she met her sweetheart Raymond. Lucile and Ray were married during wartime conditions in Fort Stockton, Texas on October 10, 1942. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on August 24, 1954. Lucile loved to work in the garden, especially the flower garden where she alleviated all her stress and anxiety by severing off the heads of the many grasshoppers pestering her garden. She liked to always keep busy and spent many hours doing counted cross stitching. Her children and grandchildren were the lucky recipients of much of that work. Every Christmas it was fun to receive a new counted cross stitch ornament. Lucile is survived by her children, Carol R. Swift, Ogden; Gary (LaNaun) Swift, Kaysville; Scott (Claire) Swift, Uinta; Jan (Larene) Swift, N. Ogden; 13 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; three brothers, Ron (Sandy) Bosgieter, Willard; Don Bosgieter, Ogden; & Howard Bosgieter, Arizona.
