Obituary

Lutrica Ann Skaggs, born Lutrica Ann Henton on August 3, 1944, passed into life everlasting with her Lord on February 9, 2026, aged 80 years.

Born in the San Diego area of California to Floyd Henton and Eveline Morris Henton, Lutrica was the second of four children. She had three brothers: Alton, Ellis and Craig. In 1961, she forewent her ambition of joining the Air Force to marry Daniel M. Skaggs, who was at that time a sailor stationed at Naval Base San Diego, where he served as a corpsman. Lutrica accompanied her husband .and two of their daughters to be a missionary in Saigon, Vietnam in 1969. She later returned to the U.S. where she continued to care for their family and support Daniel in his chosen vocation as an evangelist and minister for the Church of Christ. After ministering in several locations across the U.S., Lutrica and her family settled in Hancock, Michigan in 1972. She and her husband moved to Clinton, Utah in 2017 for their retirement.

Lutrica and Dan had four daughters, Teresa (Charles) Strickler, Jillena Rose, Danna (Kelly) Rende, and Misty (Richard) Williams. She had 15 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren (plus one due in April), and one great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband Daniel, her parents, her brother Alton and her daughter, Danna.

Lutrica will be remembered by those who knew and loved her as a supportive, caring and loving person who was always ready and willing to welcome people into her home, and to go out of her way to make people feel like family rather than guests. She labored for our Lord preparing meals and refreshments for those who passed through the Hancock Church of Christ and helping students attending Michigan Technological University and Finlandia University feel like they had a home and family away from home. She had a special love for foreign students, recalling the warmth and love she received as a missionary in Vietnam.

Lutrica worked as a photographer with her husband, handling much of the public interaction as the pair started and operated Dan's Family Photography from their home in Hancock. She also worked in various retail jobs, as a Personnel Manager for Wal-Mart and as the Office Manager of the Scott Building in Hancock. She sang beautifully and enjoyed being part of the Michigan Tech Chamber Choir and singing with the Sweet Adeline group "Noteworthy" in the Keweenaw.

Lutrica will be deeply missed by her family, friends and all of those whose lives she touched with her kindness and warmth. She lived for Jesus Christ and did her best to be a living example of his grace and love to all.
