IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lynda
Zubal
April 15, 1947 – June 7, 2024
Lynda Ann Stevenson Zubal passed away surrounded by her family following a short battle with her most recent medical challenge on June 7, 2024, at McKay Dee Hospital in Ogden, Utah. Lynda remained upbeat and positive in spite of a variety of serious health issues until her physical body failed her. Her amazing spirit willed her body to continue working in spite of a Lupus diagnosis, kidney issues, a cancer battle, diabetes, and a defective heart valve. Lynda's ability to endure the physical and emotional pain associated with such challenges was an inspiration.
Lynda was born the eldest of seven children to Thomas Allen Stevenson and Mary Lou Jean Stevenson Ogden, Utah on April 15, 1947, and she lived her entire life in the Ogden area. Lynda was a protective big sister and always assisted her parents in taking care of her family. She was a proud graduate of Ben Lomond High School class of 1965.
Lynda married Alfred (Fred) Charles Zubal on July 8, 1967. They were later sealed together for time and eternity November 22, 2016, in the Ogden LDS temple. Together they moved into their "starter" home located in Washington Terrace where they raised their three children, and the "starter" home became home base to four generations. Lynda took great care to make her home a welcoming place for all.
Lynda proudly held the occupational title of mother until her children were in school. She then branched out to share her love and knowledge with other local children as a teacher's aide at Washington Terrace Elementary school. After spending many years as a teacher's aide, she began devoting her time to her most cherished job title, grandmother. Lynda excelled as a grandmother by sharing her wisdom and teaching by example. Her grandchildren adore her, and they are a living testament of her love and hard work. She was in the process of teaching her great-grandchildren when her body could no longer keep up with her.
Lynda was an avid reader and lover of books. She enjoyed reading romance novels and LDS historical books. She was involved with the International Society Daughters of Utah Pioneers and enjoyed her time participating with the organization. Lynda was a lifetime active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was the face of her ward's church library as she served two decades as church librarian.
Many of her other hobbies also involved serving others. Lynda crocheted countless hot pads that are now proudly used by many of her family and friends. Lynda also devoted many hours over the last several decades creating memory books for her family. These books are treasured by her husband, children, and grandchildren.
One of the most memorable things about Lynda was her childlike ability to find joy in everything. She was a positive force for good to all who knew her. She loved to tell a good joke, and although she always messed up the punch line, just watching her laugh at herself got everyone laughing. Being around her made everyone better, and we will all miss her contagious laughter and her accepting and unconditional love.
Lynda was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Mary Lou Stevenson, her sister Debra Rodenbough, brother Michael Stevenson, and son in-law Benjamin Watkins.
Lynda is survived by her husband, Fred Zubal, sons Thomas (Jana) Zubal, Robert (Rachael) Zubal, daughter Lisa Zubal Watkins, seven grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 13, 2024, at noon in the LDS meeting house located at 4760 South 200 East, Washington Terrace, Utah. A viewing will be held prior to service at the same location at 11:00 am.
