Lynnette H. Leavitt Miller died Sunday Sept. 8, 2013. She was born December 30, 1926 in Ogden Utah to James and Gladys Ensign Harbertson. Lynnette was raised in Ogden and graduated from Ogden High School in 1943. She went on to attend the University of Utah graduating in 1947. She married Thomas T. Leavitt in the Salt Lake City Temple on March 18, 1948. Tom and Lynnette had three sons together. They later divorced and she married R. Glenn Miller in 1972. He passed away in 1992.
Lynnette was member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She served as the president of the Young Womens mutual as well as many other positions in the church. Shevolunteered for McKay Dee Hospital and was a member of Patio Springs Country Club. Recreationally, Lynnette was an avid golfer, skier, and most of all loved reading a book a day.
She was a teacher for the Weber County School District for 28 years, finally retiring at age 83. One of Lynnettes greatest joys in her life was teaching. She was a dedicated teacher that made a difference. She taught from the heart and stimulated her students to achieve great things. Throughout her life, former students would come up as an adult and ask, Mrs. Miller do you remember me?" After retiring, all she talked about is how much she missed the kids from school.
Later in life she enjoyed Sundays with her sons, grandson, and many friends at Snow Basin. Everyone that knew her called her Big Momma. She enjoyed her time with Book Club and her friends.
Lynnette is survived by three sons: Tommy J. Leavitt, J Scott Leavitt and Mike L. Leavitt (fianc Rachel). As well as grandsons Derek Leavitt, Ethan and Xander Clark, Shad and Taylor Remkes all of Ogden and two sisters, Margaret Ann Newey of Salt Lake City and Diane Woolsey of Ogden.
