Obituary

Lynwood Davis Islaub passed away on September 2, 2012. He was born on January 23, 1912 in Salt Lake City, Utah to George A. and Sarah D. Islaub. He graduated from Ogden High School in 1930 and was a member of their R.O.T.C. and school band. Lyn served in the Utah National Guard from 1929-1932 and was a member of B.M.T.C (Home Defense Unit) in Hawaii from 1940-1943 and present during the Pearl Harbor attack. He was employed by General Mills Inc. (Sperry Flour) and held executive positions in Ogden, Honolulu, San Francisco and Los Angeles. He then returned to Ogden to work for Famers Grain Coop. He established his office as Public Accountant in 1953. Lyn later became associated with Ted Johnstun & Associates CPA,s and retired in 1989. Lyn had been active in many community organizations, The Salvation Army Advisory Board, Childrens Air Society, Chamber of Commerce, Weber Economic Development Corp. the Ogden Industrial Development Corporation, Weber County Library Development Fund. He had also been a member of the Ogden Exchange Club, the Weber Club, Ogden Golf and Country Club and a long time volunteer at the Golden Hours Center. Lyn had received many awards and recognitions for his community activities and among them was the Civil Air Patrol, Ogden Exchange Club, (Book of Golden Deeds), the National Library Association, the Golden Hours Center and the Smithsonian Museum of Aviation. He was a life time member of the LDS Church. Lyn is survived by his wife, Catherine "Kitty", son Lynwood II (Pat), of Phoenix, daughter, Sandra Kay Sheets of Las Vegas. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren and 4 great grand children. He was preceded in death by his parents, step father, George Q. Rich Jr. his sister Mary Koldenwyn Hills and brother, George Q. Rich III. Cremation will be under the direction of Leavitts Mortuary and Aultorest Memorial Park Crematorium.
