Mae Rose Jones passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family and loved ones, on Tuesday, December 29, 2015. Mae Rose was born and raised in Cache Junction, Utah, the youngest daughter of Henry Oscar Jones and Clara Elizabeth Wright. Upon her graduation from high school in 1937, she attended nursing school and had a successful and rewarding career as a nurse at LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City. She retired in 1973.
Mae Rose and her older sister, Lorraine, were lifelong companions who travelled and had many adventures together. In fact, Mae Rose was fond of relating a hilarious story in which she and Lorraine hopped into their Studebaker, drove straight through to Las Vegas, caught a Frank Sinatra performance at The Golden Nugget, shook his hand, hopped back into their trusty Studebaker, and drove straight back home; all in the same day!
Mae Rose was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, George, her sisters Lorraine and Grace and her nephew, Robbie. She is survived by her nieces and nephews: Marsha (John), Peggy (Skip), Angela, Brett, Daren, Keith, Lexi and Steven.
Private Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, January 2, 2016 at Leavitts Mortuary 836 36th Street Ogden, Utah at 10:00 AM. A private family gathering will be held prior to services from 9:00 to 9:45 AM.
