Marcus (Mark) Hancock Murray

Marcus (Mark) Hancock Murray, 82, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 7, 2022, at the Intermountain Healthcare Layton Hospital. He was born April 8, 1939, in Ogden, Utah to Isabel Hancock and Marcus Francis Murray.

 

Mark grew up in a home built by his father at 1436 Swan Street in Ogden. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, in the Ogden 13th, 30th and 35th Wards. He attended Ogden High School (class of 1958) and Weber College, following which he served in the United States Navy. He lived in Ogden for many years and worked as a mail handler in Ogden before moving to Portland, Oregon to work for the United States Postal Service.

 

 He enjoyed watching Portland Trailblazers games, going to the gym, and detailing cars. He was a very kind person and cheerful and optimistic throughout his life. Marcus was a bachelor his whole life and recently moved home to Utah to live out his last days near family at Chancellor Gardens Assisted Living in Clearfield. 

 

Mark is survived by his nieces Sharon (Ron) Hales; Jan (Jim) Thomas; Jill (Rob) Coulson; Lana Lomax; Renae Milligan; and nephews Brent (Judy) Murray; Dennis (Stephanie) Murray; Scott Murray, Layne (Margie) Murray; Lance (Glenda) Murray; and his great nieces and nephews.

 

 Preceding Mark in death were his parents, his sisters Beverly Milligan and Karen Lou Murray, brothers Keith (Lois) Murray; LaMoine (Gerry) Murray; Freeman (Donna) Murray; nephews Glen Milligan Jr. and Brad Murray and niece Susan Murray Mason.

 

Graveside services will be held Saturday, February 19, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at the Ogden City Cemetery, 1875 Monroe Blvd. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Leavitt’s Mortuary.

 

Marcus was loved by many and will be deeply missed.
