Tremonton- Maria Dekleva Chadaz, 85, loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, died Sunday, September 29, 2013 in Tremonton of congestive heart failure.
She was born January 10, 1928 in Petelinje, Koper, Slovenia, Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, a daughter of Josef and Maria Fatur Dekleva.
In 1947 she married Jakob Sedmak in Slovenia. He died October 27, 1947. On April 9, 1959, she married John Chadaz of Tremonton, Utah. She immigrated to the United States that same year and became a U.S. Citizen in 1981. He died on October 25, 1992.
She enjoyed cooking, sewing, knitting-the latter for which she won several blue ribbon county fair awards, and always had an immaculate garden and home. She dearly loved her children, grand children, great-grandchildren, and had a special love for music. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
Surviving are her son Jacob (Sydnee) Sedmack Jr., Brigham City, UT, daughter Janet (Brian) McCormick, Richmond, VA, and son Bart Chadaz, Tremonton, UT, six grandchildren and four great-granchildren. She is also survived by two brothers, Joseph Dekleva, Sydney, Austrailia and Marko Dekleva, Toronto, Canada, and one sister Katrina in Slovenia. She was preceded in death by her two husbands, two brothers and both parents.
Mass of the Resurrection will be at the Weber State University Catholic Newman Center Chapel, 3738 Custer Ave. in Ogden on Thursday, October 3, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. with interment Leavitts Aultorest Memorial Mausoleum, 836 36th Street, Ogden, Utah with Father Charles Cummins officiating.
