Obituary

Marianne B. Kattau Petersen, age 93 passed away on September 21, 2024, at TREEO Senior Living Center in South Ogden, Utah. She passed away from natural causes due to aging. She was born on September 4, 1931, in New York City, New York. She was preceded in death by her parents Chis and Marie Kattau, and her sister Margaret Bohman. She was married to Johannes Petersen and together they had 5 children. They were married 49 years before his passing in December 1997. They moved the family to California in 1960. Two sons remaining are Steven Petersen, wife Peggy, Robert Petersen, wife Irma, and one daughter Chris Campbell, husband Ken. Two sons preceded her in death, John Jr. Petersen and Richard Petersen. She had 8 grandchildren, one adopted and three step grandchildren and lots of great-grandchildren.

Marianne loved to read, garden, cross-stitch, and knit. She was a wife and meticulous homemaker. She taught her kids how to do laundry, cook, and do yard work. Two of her most treasured cats were named Ginger and Missy. These were a big part of her life, always making sure they were well cared for. She liked to plant flowers and took pride in her plants. California was home for many years, and she lived in Saratoga, California until moving with her husband to Truckee, California. She, her husband, and sons built a home in Truckee and lived there until his passing. Her son Steve helped her move from Truckee to Ogden Utah so she could be close to family to help her when needed. She had a patio home and loved it dearly until she could no longer manage the upkeep of her home and moved to TREEO. She was a Lutheran by faith.

We wish to thank the staff at TREEO for all their help and support through the time spent there. Also, Specialty Nursing Services, especially Cindy Allen and Active Hospice especially Jenny and Robyn for all their help.

Request of cremation will be honored, and Celebration of Life will be held at Leavitt's Funeral Home on October 26th at 1:00pm. Her final resting place will be in Reno Nevada with her husband and son John Jr..
