Marilyn Ruth Brown Colvin left us all too suddenly on the evening of July 28, 2016 for her journey to her heavenly home. We were not ready for her to go and are so very saddened by her passing, but know she is now free of all her earthly pains, is at peace, walking & running with the angels. Many would describe our mother as an angel on earth. She was a beautiful person inside and out. She was always gentle, kind, compassionate, a friend to all. She loved everyone she met unconditionally. She was a talented artist, a beloved teacher, a mentor to many, a creative writer and a cook that could make anything taste delicious. She was a devoted daughter, treasured aunt, a loving sister, a cherished wife and an amazing mother, grandmother & great grandmother. She loved us with all her heart as we were her everything. She supported anything and everything we did and instilled in us determination to thrive and suceed in life. We always knew how very much we were loved. She was generous with her time and talents. Mom showed us how to have a career and a family, she did both & did them well. She taught us to have a soft heart, a quick smile, a strong faith, opinions, something intelligent to read, something intelligent to say, and a firece love of family. She taught us what a home should feel like. A home where all are welcome, loved and assured that whatever happens out there in life all was safe in there. Marilyn was born November 28, 1933 to James Albert Brown and Mary Elizabeth Petersen. She was very proud of her hertiage as a decendent of Ogden City founder Captain James Brown. She lived in Ogden most all of her life with the exception of some time spent in Saint George, Utah. On June 6, 1956 she married her beloved husband Bobby Wallace Colvin in the Logan LDS Temple. She is the mother of 5, Suzanne, Brett (Natalie Scott) Robert (Suzanne), Matthew, and Andrew (Trase Taggart). Grandmother of 9 and great grandmother of 9 soon to be 10. Her constant "I Love you" will ehco in our minds and hearts to carry us through our saddness and loss. Marilyn was a school teacher for 34 years. She influenced countless many young lives and is remembered as a caring, passionate, beloved teacher who instilled confidence & always wanted the best for all of her students. She loved all of her students and her students loved her. She was a very active member of the Utah Daughters of the Pioneers and also Alpha Kapa Delta Teachers. She was a life long faithful member of the LDS Church faithfully serving many callings including Junior Sunday School Coordinator, and Visiting Teacher. Marilyn is survived by her husband, children; her granchildren, Annalynn, James, Ian, Jenna, Ben, Ellie and Elijah; and her great grandchildren BraeAvery, Phoenix, Valiant, Emillia, Listen, Maslow, Bernadette, Rosie and Ava. She is also survived by two sisters Ann Collins, Nedra Stone and a brother Jimmy L. Brown. She was predeeded in death by her parents, grandparents, her beloved Uncle Lee and Aunt Vi, older brother James Brown, and her special granddaughter Alix Jessie Colvin. We love you mom and will miss you so. When the voices of your children are heard on the green, and their laughter is heard on the hill, it is because of the generous love you have always given that everything will be still. There is a place where we go when we want to feel like home and nobody knows it but us. The roads do not go there, and we know when we are there we are never alone. It is that place, we with you mom, know we always want to be. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at the L.D.S. Pleasant Valley 5th Ward, 5735 Crestwood Dr., Ogden at 11:00 a.m. A viewing for family and friends will be held Monday, August 1, 2016 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Leavitts Mortuary, 836 36th St., Ogden and on Tuesday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the services at the church. Interment in Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch.
