Obituary

Our loving and adorable mom, Marion Virginia Keller Haggerty, passed away on Thursday, November 24th, 2022, at the age of 82. She was born August 3rd, 1940, to Sylvan and Marion Keller, in Salt Lake City, Utah. She attended Olympus High School in Holladay, Utah. She married David Leon Haggerty in the Salt Lake City Temple on June 1st, 1962. Virginia lived the definition of a clean and wholesome life. Upon graduating high school, she attended BYU where she studied early childhood education. It wasnt long before she met our dad, David Haggerty. She described him as a "nerd and a geek," but decided to write to him for two years while he served an LDS mission. Not long after he returned, she became sealed to the nerd and geek in the Salt Lake Temple. She often described this as when her life began, as this is when she started her family. Her passion in life was always her children. She poured her heart and soul into raising six kids with unconditional love, dedication, and warmth. Virginia was a homemaker extraordinaire; cooking, sewing, cleaning, bandaging, reading amazing stories, and giving exceptional haircuts where she definitely never nicked anyones ears. Our mom loved the arts and became involved in the theater, eventually working her way up to direct high-level productions of the musical plays Cinderella, Oklahoma and more. She was an adept artist and loved to paint and draw, and became a published author and illustrator of two childrens books. Once her children grew old enough, she continued with her original career plans and went on to start and run a private preschool where she affectionately became known as Miss Ginny. Professionally, she taught kindergarten for the remainder of her working years until she was 75 years old and was beloved by many of her young students. Above all, she served her family and her faith. She and our dad were married for 55 years. Virginia is survived by her children Camille Prescott, Dennis (Malinda), Michael (Michelle), Sheri (David Nutting), James (Lynnette), Jennifer (Hal) Higgs; eight grandchildren; two great grandchildren on the way; four brothers Gary, Rick, Roger and Doug, and her sweet sister Connie, who she loved very much. She is preceded in death by her husband David, parents Sylvan and Marion Keller, and brother Ron. Funeral services will be held at Leavitts Mortuary in Ogden at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, December 2nd. There will be a viewing earlier that day from 12:45 to 1:45. Interment will be held at Aultorest Memorial Park in Ogden, Utah.
