Marion Schvaneveldt's Obituary

Marion was born February 13, 1930 and was adopted and raised by her loving parents, Dr. W.H. and Edith Trezona Budge. Marion led a long and happy life surrounded by family and friends. She was loved by everyone who had the opportunity to meet her. Marion was raised in Ogden and graduated from Ogden High School in 1948. She attended Weber College, then the University of Colorado before finishing her degree at Utah State in June of 1952. She majored in Drama and Music. While at Utah State she met the love of her life, Wes Schvaneveldt and they married on June 18, 1952. Marion had a contagious love of life and dedicated herself to the service of others. She volunteered and played piano at rest homes for over 20 years and put on puppet shows at schools and at Christmas Village. She also taught school for two years. She was awarded the Outstanding Citizen Award from the Ogden Elks in 1978. In 1980, she was awarded the Carnation Community service award by Governor Norm Bangerter. She was on the Weber County Senior Volunteer Advisory Board from 1981-1987, serving the final two years as Chairman. Marion always found time to have fun and was an avid adventurer. She often captained a station wagon full of neighborhood kids on fishing trips. She loved Jazz and went with Wes and countless friends to Jazz Festivals every year. For 30 years in a row, they went to Hawaii and met with their Mahina Surf friends with whom she formed lasting friendships. Marion and Wes had a love that is an inspiration and a legacy. Their love resembled those in the movies they loved so much. She was and is the meaning of love. Marion is survived by her three children, Charles (Cathy Code) Schvaneveldt, Susan (Rob) Chambers, and James (Barbara Ray) Schvaneveldt. Her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and extended family all remember her with love, laughter, and tears. Marion did not want a funeral or a viewing; she did not want sadness upon her passing. She wanted a celebration of life. Her wishes are being honored. A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, May 20, 2016 at 4:00 PM at the Union Station, 2501 Wall Ave., Ogden, Utah (use center entrance). Private Graveside Services were held at Leavitts Aultorest Memorial Park, 836 36th Street, Ogden, Utah. Services under the direction of Leavitts Mortuary. Instead of flowers, Wes requests that donations be made in her honor to the Weber County Human Services Senior Companion Program.
