Mark Todd Wigness's Obituary

Mark Todd Wigness, Sr., 69, passed away on March 8, 2020, at home following a long-term illness. He was born May 19, 1950, in Ogden, Utah, to Arby Emerald and Leona Quall Wigness. Mark attended Kaysville High School and Weber State College. He married Valerie J. Gormley on April 11, 2009, whom he met through life-long friend Jeff Smalley. Mark worked for Smalleys Construction at Hill Air Force Base. He worked from a very young age, a means of raising four children with his lifelong friend and first wife Karen, also of Ogden. Mark and wife Valerie spent the last 20 years of lifes adventures without children of their own, except for the several four-legged "kids" that found themselves at the doorstep in need of lots of love from a great big-hearted and gentle soul. Raised and confirmed as a Lutheran, Mark supported his wifes choice of faith as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Mark is survived by wife Valerie J. Gormley; children Mark T. Wigness, Jr., Britt Wilson Wigness, and Ashley Wigness; sisters Carol and Valerie; brother Terry; and nine grandchildren. He is preceded in death by parents Arby and Leonna Wigness; stepson Shane P. Gormley; son Jayson; youngest brother Ricky Wigness; brother-in-law Robert Gormley, Jr.; and friend Jeff Smalley. Thank you to the health care professionals at the Huntsman Cancer Institute for all the help, guidance and care given to Mark and Valerie throughout this long-term battle. Many thanks to sister-in-law Donna Wigness and family for the love and support you always showed and the many laughs and smiles you brought to Marks life. Also a special thank you to Jaylene Smalley and family, and Robert Gormley, Jr. and family. Your kindness for Mark will never be forgotten.
