Marva Roberts's Obituary

Roy-Our dear mother, Marva Russell Roberts, age 90, left this life peacefully with her daughters by her side after fighting melanoma so gracefully for two and a half years. Mom was born and raised in Roy by her parents James Alexander Russell and Myrtle Field Russell. She graduated from Weber High School in 1941. She married John T Roberts in 1942 and worked for three years at Hill Air Force Base until he returned from the war in Europe. They lived in Ogden where they raised their two daughters. They truly enjoyed life together. They especially loved to golf, to go out dancing, and to go camping with the family. Mom always made home a very special place for us with her beautiful presence, her cooking, her spontaneous piano music, and her amazing ability to yodel on request. After dad retired from the U.S Postal Service and mom retired from the IRS they lived in Roy. They spent their winters in St. George and traveled to many places in the world, living their dream until dad passed away in 1988. Mom then spent several years with her friend Bill Rohrer, until he passed away in 2008. She loved and was loved by his daughters Sharon, Pat, Vickie, and their families. Mom was preceded in death by her brothers Leonard Russell and Kenneth Russell; her sisters Helen Sodenkamp, Norma Holstein, and her identical twin Margie, who left a hole in her heart when she passed away at the age of 15. Mom is survived by her daughters Margie Gail (Allen) Christensen of Richmond, Utah, and Tori Lana (Jay) Durrant of North Ogden, Utah; her grandchildren Jaimee (Chris) Christensen, Joslin (Aaron) Christensen, Lori (Norm) Blessant, and Kelly (Tara) Durrant; and eight great grandchildren. She never forgot a birthday and was always there with support in times of need. We want to thank the wonderful doctors and nurses at the Huntsman Cancer Institute for their excellent care of our mother. We are also grateful for the incredible help and care she received from Gentiva Hospice, as well as from Stoney Brooke Assisted Living.
