Mary M. Florez, age 80, passed away peacefully at her home on November 2, 2013, after a long illness. She was born in Canjilon, New Mexico on March 22, 1933 to Epifania Maestas. She married Jose B. Florez on February 25, 1950. He passed away in 1980. Mary was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She served for 15 years as a senior companion for Weber Human Services at Wasatch Care Center. She loved to do crochet, embroidery work, and other handicrafts. She also enjoyed fishing, camping, and serving others. Mary especially loved her grandchildren and attended every event in which they participated, if she was able to do so. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, parents, God-daughter, Debbie, and her dog, Punkin. She is survived by her son, James (Audrey); her God-daughters, Brenda and Toni; her grandchildren, Joseph B. (Alexia), and Kirianna M.; great-granddaughters, Andriana and soon-to-be-born Alessandra, and her dog, LadyBug. The family wishes to express gratitude for the compassionate care given by Dr. Matthew Lyman. Funeral services will be held on Friday November 8, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Leavitts Mortuary, 836 36th Street, Ogden, Utah. A viewing will be held on Thursday, November 7, 2013 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment will be in the Ogden City Cemetery.
