Mary Holland Smith
May 13, 1920 - June 15, 2014
Mary Holland Smith passed away peacefully in her sleep, June 15, 2014. She was born May 13, 1920 in Provo, UT to Harvey E. Holland and Estella Heywood.
Mary moved to Salt Lake City as a young woman where she attended schools and graduated from South High School.
Mary was a telephone operator and she was very proud of being one of the first telephone operators at HAFB.
Mary married William John Smith at Camp San Luis Obispo, CA in December 1942. Their marriage was later sealed in the Logan LDS Temple. They raised their family in South Ogden, UT. She has been an active member of the LDS Church.
Mary loved to travel with her husband John. She was an avid bird watcher and loved birds.
Mary is survived by two sons and one daughter, Mark (Martie) Smith, Martin (Cher King) Smith; daughter, Kristine (Fred) Williams. She is survived by three sisters, Grace Anderson, Betty Petersen, Juanita Perry, as well as 18 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, and many foster children.
She is preceded in death by her husband, one son Russell and two grandsons, Tim and Ryan.
A Celebration to Commemorate her Life will be held at the Graveside on Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at 11:00 a.m.at Leavitts Aultorest Memorial Park. Family will greet friends on Tuesday, June 17, 2014 from 6:00 -7:30 p.m. at Leavitts Mortuary, 836-36th St., Ogden and prior to the service from 10:00 -10:40 a.m.
