On May 12, 2022, our dear sweet Mary Jane left this mortal existence to return to the presence of her Father in Heaven and into the arms of her earthly mother and father. We are all so happy for her and for them.
Mary Jane was born on February 1, 1951 at the Dee Hospital in Ogden, Utah to DeOnge W. and Grace E. Tanner. From that day forward, she has been a blessing in the lives of her family and all who knew her. Mary Jane was intellectually disabled. Sharing in her life has taught us all to be kinder to others, to have more patience, to be more loving and most of all to be accepting of those who are different from us in any way. Mary Jane spent her early years living at home, followed by many years at the Utah State Developmental Center in American Fork, Utah and the last twenty-two years in a group home in Layton, Utah.
Mary Jane is survived by brothers Roy Tanner, Paul (Ann) Tanner, Stephen (Lynn) Tanner, Glen Tanner; and sisters Zola Lykins, Ann Boogher and sister-in-law Kathe Tanner.
Mary Jane was preceded in death by brothers Earl D. Tanner, Richard Tanner, and sister Carolyn Peterson, and brothers-in-law Val Lykins, Ben Boogher, Bud Peterson and sister-in-law MaryLou Tanner
On May 20, 2022 at 2:00 pm, a funeral service will be held for Mary Jane at the Leavitt’s Mortuary at 836 36th street in Ogden. Visitation prior to the funeral will be from 1:00 to 1:45.
We wish to extend a special thank you to the management and staff of Futures through Choices and KT&T for the love and care they have provided to Mary Jane for the last 22 years.
