Obituary

MaryLynne Chino, affectionately known by many as ML, Mary, Mare, and even Crazy Mary, was a radiant light in the lives of everyone she touched. Born on February 16, 1945, in Ogden, Utah, to the loving George L. Chino and Mary Caroline Farish, MaryLynne's journey on this earth came to a peaceful close on February 18, 2024, in North Ogden, Utah.

A spirited soul from the start, ML's laughter and thoughtful nature left an indelible mark on her family, including her siblings DeAnn (James) Boyle and George L. Chino, Jr. (JoEllen Raty), and her adoring nieces and nephews. She was the cherished pillar of a sprawling family tree that included Pamela, Lynda, Marci, Jennifer, Jessie, Steve, Mateo, Randall, Miguel, Rafael, Gabriel, Ariel, Tomas, and Luis, along with their families and a host of great and great-great nieces and nephews. Each one held a special place in her heart, none more so than her niece Jennifer, with whom she shared not only a birthday but countless cherished moments.

Educated in the halls of Ogden High School, MaryLynne's thirst for knowledge and adventure led her to study at Utah State University and Washington State University before earning her bachelor's degree in elementary education from Weber State University. Her career took her from the Federal Reserve Bank and Commercial Security Bank to her ultimate calling as a beloved teacher at a youth detention facility, also known as MOWEDA. There, she poured her soul into her students, offering them hope and guidance with unwavering dedication.

MaryLynne's passion for life extended far beyond the classroom. She embraced the world with open arms, living vibrantly on a houseboat in Seattle, where she relished the rainy climate and the city's unique vibe. Her lifelong friends from Seattle remained close to her heart, a testament to the deep bonds she forged.

An intrepid traveler, ML found joy in her sojourns to New York and the time she spent backpacking across Europe. In every corner of the globe, she was in her element, her spirit uncontainable and her curiosity boundless.

Ultimately, the pull of family brought MaryLynne back to Utah to complete her education and be closer to her roots. Her family was her world, and though she never had children of her own, her nieces and nephews filled her life with love and laughter. She was a constant presence in their lives, a mentor, confidante, and the ever-ready chauffeur for Jenny to Special Olympics, karate classes, and the animal shelter.

Funny, caring, and always full of life, MaryLynne cherished her home, a sanctuary where she lived out her days surrounded by the memories and people she loved. It was her wish to remain there, and her family took great solace in fulfilling this wish, caring for her with the same devotion she had always shown them until her final days.

MaryLynne Chino's legacy is one of love, laughter, and an unbreakable spirit that inspired all who knew her. She taught us to embrace life's adventures, to nurture the bonds of family, and to approach each day with a heart full of joy and a sense of humor that could light up the darkest room. As we celebrate her life, let us carry forward her vibrant spirit, remembering that, like MaryLynne, we too can leave an indelible mark on the world simply by being our most authentic selves. Her journey may have ended, but the stories, the lessons, and the love she shared will continue to motivate and uplift us all. Thank you, MaryLynne, for being a beacon of light and a true example of how to live life to the fullest. Your spirit dances on, and you will be forever missed but never forgotten.
