Matthew Castile Marquart

Matthew Castile Marquart, 33, passed away on October 25, 2021, surrounded by his family. He was born to Mary (Clint) Mills Hopson and Mike (Kelly) Marquart in Ogden, Utah on December 10, 1987.

Matthew attended both Fremont and Layton High Schools where he made many friends and touched many lives. To know Matt was to love him. He was such a kind and generous soul. He always had a smile and a kind word, or a sarcastic comment for all he knew. Matthew's sense of humor was unmatched. He was a natural comedian and could bring a smile to anyone’s face.
In 2019, he married the love of his life, Baylie Messerly. Together they built a life they loved, nestled in the foothills of Ogden, Utah. Matthew loved those foothills and referred to the mountains surrounding the house as his mountains. Matt was the father of four wonderful children Deagan 14, Camden 9, Romee 5, and Calvin 17 months, whom he absolutely adored. Being a father was one of Matt’s greatest joys.
Prior to his passing, Matthew worked for D&J Grading. Always a hard worker, he was valued by his coworkers for his positive outlook and can-do attitude. The family would like to thank the D&J Grading crew for all their love and support during these hard times.
Matthew is preceded in death by his grandparents.
He is survived by his parents, wife, and children, as well as his sisters: Tricia, Jamie, Jessica, Ivy, Madysun, and Tayler, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A Celebration of Matthew’s life will be held on Thursday, November 4, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at Leavitt’s Mortuary 836 36th Street, Ogden, Utah. Guests are welcome to attend a viewing Wednesday, November 3, 2021, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Thursday, November 4, 2021, from 10 to 10:45 a.m., prior to the Celebration of Life.

I'm so sorry Mary! It's so hard to loose a child. We are not supposed to bury our children, they are supposed to bury us!

What a lovely video tribute. Matt was surrounded by so much love. Taken far too soon. We are so sad and send his family our condolences during these trying times.
