Maureena Hansen Broadbent

Beloved Daughter of Heavenly Parents, Disciple of Jesus Christ,

Child of The Covenant

"Let's all just do the best we can!"

Maureena Hansen Broadbent, 72, of Ogden passed peacefully to live in her heavenly home on September 24, 2024, at Hidden Valley Assisted Living and Memory Care in Ogden, Utah. She died from natural causes after battling dementia for many years.

Maureena was born on November 22, 1951, to Clyde Wayne Hansen and Marilyn Hawkins Hansen at LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City.

After Maureena graduated from Hillcrest High School in 1970, she went to work for two summers at the Grand Canyon in Arizona, first as a cabin maid and then as a waitress. She met and fell in love with Alan Broadbent while there. She hiked across the Grand Canyon with him before they were married. She studied Secretarial Technology at Brigham Young University and graduated with an associate's degree in 1972.

On June 23,1972, Maureena Hansen and Alan Lynn Broadbent were sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake City Temple. Maureena and Alan are blessed with five children and their spouses, Alma (Susan), Aleena (Sam), Jason (Amber), Stacy (Brad), Marci (Jeff), and 25 amazing grandchildren.

She was employed from home for over 20 years as Alan's personal secretary with Frontier Adjusters. She was very efficient and organized. She learned shorthand and was fast on the typewriter.

Maureena served the Lord faithfully in many callings as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She served as Relief Society President three times, as Young Women's President, many capacities in the Primary, and as Den Mother and Cub Master in Cub Scouts. Maureena and Alan served as temple workers for 4 years in the Ogden temple together and as special needs mutual presidents for many years.

She loves Jesus Christ and has a burning testimony of our Savior and His Gospel. She read her Book of Mormon faithfully throughout her life. It provided her with much strength and courage through the hardships and challenges she endured.

She found her greatest joy and nobility in motherhood in nurturing and serving her large family. You could say that her family was her biggest hobby! She gave the greatest hugs! She had a radiant smile and was so complimentary to all. We all felt her love for us! She was fortunate to be able to see 5 grandchildren return home from serving honorable missions, send one more out into the field, and was privileged to witness the marriage of one of her granddaughters before she passed away.

She cherished many years of family singing together, playing games, vacationing, camping, hiking and helping to organize reunions with the extended Hansen family. She enjoyed traditions like New Year's Eve parties, going to Lake Powell, Marysvale, St. George, and Cancun, as well as many Broadbent reunions in Idaho, Bryce Canyon, Zion, and California.

She learned to sew and had the skills to make some of her own clothing, including her wedding dress, which she wore to attend the temple for many years, and wears today.

Maureena had a tender spot in her heart for her many pets: rabbits, chickens, turtles, hamsters, birds, guinea pigs, and her dogs, Taffy, Tippy, and Oscar.

She saw the beauty in everything around her, loved vibrant colors, and making pictures from shapes in the clouds. She would spot a baby or toddler anywhere she went and entertain a playful game of peek-a boo with them.

Maureena was predeceased by: Wayne and Marilyn Hansen (parents), Lynn and Wanda Broadbent (father-in-law and mother-in-law), Hunter and Colter Winward (grandsons), Sherman Gibbs (brother-in-law), Glen and Kay Stubbs (brother-in-law and sister-in-law), Lee Broadbent (brother-in-law), and Ray and Peggy Terry (brother-in-law and sister-in-law).

She is survived by her husband Alan and loving children and grandchildren: Alma and Susan Broadbent (Brigitta, Teagan, Phoebe, Anders, Gretel, Molly, Leif, Finn, Fisher), Aleena and Sam Winward (Bridger, Asia, Ivy), Jason and Amber Broadbent (Holly, Lexi, Stockton, Brylee, Daphne), Stacy and Brad Johnson (Cameron, Logan, Parker), and Marci and Jeff Low (Avrey and Ryan Semadeni, Hailey, Corben). She is also survived by her siblings and in-laws: Leon and Cindy Hansen, Marba and Jay Porter, Lucinda and Brent Milne, Alma and Karen Hansen, Tina and John Ek, Lynda Gibbs, and Marilyn Broadbent.
