Merlene Joy (Hone) Hennefer

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Merlene Joy (Hone) Hennefer, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Merlene was born on October 18, 1937 in Payson, Utah to Carlisle Hone and Florence Celia (Warren) Hone. She peacefully left this world on July 10, 2023.

Merlene had a deep love for her family and held a special place in her heart for her three sisters who have preceded her in death - Laura Peterson, Shirley Buckway, and Mareen Pierce. Their memories will forever be cherished.

At the tender age of fifteen, Merlene met the love of her life, Jack Ray Hennefer. Their connection blossomed into a union that would last a lifetime. They were married and sealed for eternity in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they had six children - Christine Hennefer (Mark Acker), Jack Hennefer, Dean Allen Hennefer (Vickie), Diann Hennefer (James Scadden), Carol Hennefer (Shirl Rawson), and Sharol Hennefer (Lance Halbash).

For sixty years, Merlene and Jack made their home at 811 16th Street in Ogden, Utah. They were pillars of strength and love within their community. Both devout members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, they found great joy in serving others. Merlene dedicated her time to various church organizations such as Primary and Relief Society. She also found solace within the walls of the temple.

As parents and grandparents, Merlene and Jack exemplified unwavering love and support. Their warm embrace created an environment where their children flourished into exceptional individuals. Merlene had a special connection with her beautiful grandchildren and made it a priority to cherish every moment spent with them.

Merlene possessed a multitude of talents and interests. She was a skilled seamstress, adept at sewing, quilting, painting, and crochet. Her creations were testaments to her creativity and attention to detail. She had a green thumb, taking pride in cultivating a stunning variety of roses that adorned her garden.

In addition to her beloved sisters, Merlene has now been reunited with her husband of seventy years, Jack Hennefer, who passed away before her. Her heart also mourns the loss of two granddaughters, Helen Scadden and Makenna Mecham, as well as her grandson Jared Hennefer. Their spirits will live on in the hearts of those who loved them.

As we reflect upon Merlene's remarkable life, we are filled with gratitude for all that she taught us. Her countless accomplishments and acts of love will forever resonate within the lives she touched. How wonderful to know she and daddy are "Together Forever"
