Mildred Ruth Thompson was described by all as sweet and caring and known by her family and close friends as a most loving and sacrificing wife, mother, sister and friend. She passed away November 24, 2017, at the age of 92 due to causes incident to age at Country Pines, in Clinton Utah. Mildred was born December 8, 1924, to Frederick Princess and Sarah Lettie Rice in Willard, Utah, and graduated from Weber High. Her Life consisted of 5 major parts First, early years during the depression era in Willard, Plain City, West Ogden and South Ogden. Her memoirs tell of shoes only for school and church, homemade clothes, hard work, but always plenty to eat. Second, marriage to Herman William Bell in Dec 1946, and lived in Roy and South Ogden with sons Mark and Taylor. She worked to help support the family as Hermans failed heart lead to his death in May 1955. As a widow with two small children she worked to provide for the family at Hogans Mens Store, and with hard work and support of family was able to keep the house and prosper. Third, marriage to George Kenneth Thompson 3 March 1956, whom she met at Kearns Cafe right next door to Hogans. Cindy and Andy joined the family and for 31 years she enjoyed being a wife and mother living in Ogden, Kaysville and South Ogden. It seemed like everywhere she lived, primary teaching was her calling and she loved it. She and George developed many great friends and she supported George as he ran for Mayor of Kaysville. After the kids left home, she became employed as a sales clerk at Bon Marche (Macys) and she thrived there, learning that she had a talent for helping women find clothes that made them feel like ladies. Fourth, widowed years after Georges health failed him in 1987 while living in South Ogden. She later moved to North Ogden where she again was a primary teacher. For almost 30 years, she lived alone independently but never idly. She played golf regularly until late in her 80s, bowled, attended ceramics workshops, and her home was filled with her creations. To the untrained eye, she would have to point out which ceramics were made by her and which were the Yadro that she purchased. Fifth, as age took its toll the last 11 months, she had to sell her home and lived most recently at Country Pines in Clinton, where she enjoyed visits from family and friends and enjoyed new friends who always said and still say What a sweet lady. Mildred is survived by sons Mark Bell (Alicia) of Nampa, ID, Andy Thompson of Talladega, AL, and daughter Cindy Lloyd (Steve) of Clinton, UT; sisters Charlene Mead, South Ogden, Bonnie Higley (Kent) of Hooper and Roselene Smith (David) of North Ogden; 14 grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren. Mildred was preceded in death by husbands Herman Bell and George Thompson; Son Taylor Bell; grandchildren Tiffany Lloyd Jay and Alexander Bell; great granddaughter Ellie Tolman; brothers Lavoy Rice, Maxon Rice, Austin Rice, Vernon Rice, Ivan Rice and George Rice; sisters Adele Simmons and Joy Wold. Service Information Date: Thursday, November 30, 2017 Funeral Services will be held at Leavitts Mortuary 836 36th Street, with a viewing Wednesday evening November 29th from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.
