Monroe T. Bender, Jr., 90, Passed Away December 2, 2021, after a lengthy fight with COPD and Congestive Heart Failure.
He was born November 30,1931 to Monroe T. Bender and May I. (Shanaman) Bender in Richland, PA. He graduated from Fredericksburg High School.
Monroe joined the Marine Corp upon graduating high school and served in the Korean War. When he returned from service, he married Barbara Weise in 1954 and they headed to California for new adventures. He was a retired engineer from Rockwell International. They moved to Utah in 2007. He had a very kind heart and loved working in the yard or tinkering with anything he could. He was a proud grandfather to Melissa. We would like to thank the staff at Ogden Regional Medical Center for their kindness in caring for our father.
Monroe is survived by daughters: Linda Bender, Karen (Brian) Towns, son James Bender, granddaughter Melissa Bender. Sisters Nancy Frantz, Helen Stoltz and Susan Shepler, many nieces and nephews and their families.
Monroe was preceded in death by his parents, brother George Bender, sisters: Shirley Sweger, Joan Ritchie, Betty Kirby. His youngest brother, John Bender, passed away on Dec 3, 2021. The love of his life, Barbara, passed away on Dec 7, 2021.
Barbara M. (Weise) Bender, 90, Passed Away December 7, 2021, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's Disease.
She was born April 17,1931 to Anthony Weise and Ethel (Courtright} Weise in Paterson, NJ. She went as far as 8th grade in school. She married Monroe T. Bender in 1954, and they headed to California for new adventures. She moved to Utah in 2007.
Barbara Bender was extremely talented in all areas of crafts and art. She was a retired seamstress, but taught herself and others to do many handcrafts, including oil painting. Sewing was her passion and in retirement, she loved to make baby quilts. She always remembered special occasions. She loved to talk and never met a stranger. She was a proud grandmother to Melissa. We would like to thank the staff at Auberge at North Ogden and A Plus Hospice for taking such great care of our mother.
Barbara is survived by daughters: Linda Bender, Karen (Brian) Towns, son James Bender, granddaughter Melissa, sisters Dorothy (Harold) Seibert, Elsie Weise, many nieces and nephews and their families.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 67 years, Monroe Bender; brothers George Weise, Harold Weise, Anthony Weise, Harry Weise.
