Muriel "Meme" Hanson HardyMuriel "Meme" Hardy passed away on July 11, 2012. She was born on February 24, 1911 In Howard, South Dakota to Gordon and Florence Hanson. She moved to Salt Lake City in 1925 and graduated from East High School. She attended the University of Utah and was a member of the Pi-Phi Sorority.She met her future husband, John Moburn "Mob" Hardy at his familys cabin in Holiday Park. They were married on January 10, 1934. Meme and Mob lived in Salt Lake City, until Mobs work brought them to Ogden in 1948. Mob died in 1952 and Meme was left the single mother of four children.Meme went to work at W. P. Fuller and then at Crittenden Paint Glass, where she could use her Interior Design college major. Many businesses and homes in Ogden still show the touch of her artistic flair in their interior paint and wallpaper. She retired from Crittenden Paint Glass in 1979.Meme has been an active member of the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd since 1948. She was a member of the Altar Guild for many years. Meme loved her home in Ogden and kept a beautiful garden. She did all her own yard work until she was ninety. She played bridge all her life and at one time played three times a week. She belonged to the Modern Literature Club for 64 years and loved to read.Her family was everything to her and she enjoyed nothing better than hosting a large family party. She dearly loved her children, but her favorite role was Grandma. Meme is survived by her children Joanne Lazar, John (Sylvia) Hardy, Tom (Lee) Hardy and her son-in-law Henry Kanemoto and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her daughter Elizabeth Hardy Kanemoto, her sister Lillian Hanson Scalley and her brother Gordon "Buddy" Hanson.The family would like to thank the caring staff of Apple Village and the warm and loving care Mom received from Applegate Hospice.A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 21, 2012 at 11:00 AM at The Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, 2374 Grant Avenue, Ogden, Utah with the Reverend Vanessa Cato officiating.In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Church of the Good Shepherd Restoration Fund, 2374 Grant Avenue, Ogden, Utah 84401.Cremation under the direction of Leavitts Mortuary.Please send us your condolences and a memory at www.leavittsmortuary.com
