Obituary

Myrna Margaret (Etherington Nord) Anderson

September 21, 1940 – January 15, 2026

Ogden, Utah

Myrna Margaret (Etherington Nord) Anderson, 85, of Ogden, Utah, passed away peacefully of natural causes on January 15, 2026.

Myrna was born on September 21, 1940, and was raised by her beloved maternal grandparents, Margaret Dance Etherington and Alfred Earl Etherington, who provided a loving home and shaped the foundation of her life. She graduated from Ogden High School in 1959, forming lifelong friendships and deep roots in the community she always considered home.

Following high school, Myrna worked as a civilian in support of the armed forces and served in the Air Force Reserves. She lived in Germany, where her first son, Kevin, was born in 1962. After returning to Ogden, she welcomed her second son, Greg, in 1963. Myrna spent many years working at Hill Air Force Base, supplying parts in the hangar for pilot mechanics and quietly supporting the work that kept aircraft mission-ready. She retired with pride and remained fiercely independent throughout her life.

Myrna loved the mountains and the outdoors, but nowhere held her heart like Yellowstone National Park. Beginning in her childhood, she returned faithfully each spring to watch elk calves being born and each fall during rutting season. Often accompanied by her dear friend RaVae, Myrna would sit for hours simply watching elk bugle, spar, and move through the valleys. In 1999, while visiting Mammoth, a bull elk charged directly through her group rather than going around them, leaving her car dented as though it had been peppered with BBs. The story was retold many times with laughter and awe, and she commemorated the moment by changing her license plate to "Elk 1." She also cherished trips to Jackson Hole, annual visits to the Yellowstone Playhouse, evenings at the Bar J Chuckwagon, and a special elk-watching trip to Estes Park, Colorado, shared with RaVae and her family.

Beyond Yellowstone, Myrna loved traveling to Texas to visit Kevin and his family, rarely missing birthdays, graduations, or holidays. She cherished time spent with Ethan, Emma, and Eliza, taking them on walks, frog hunting, and exploring together, quiet moments filled with curiosity, laughter, and discovery that became lasting memories for them all. She treasured time closer to home with Greg and his family in the Ogden area. She especially enjoyed lunches with McCade, hearing about MaCall's adventures, and catching up with Matt after his move to Washington.

Myrna delighted in shopping and gift-giving wherever she went. She loved finding the perfect T-shirts, sweatshirts, and elk treasures, thoughtfully chosen to remind her family that she was always thinking of them. Giving brought her as much joy as receiving, and her love was often felt weeks in advance through carefully packed boxes mailed early to ensure they arrived safely and on time.

She faithfully attended the temple and was sealed to her grandparents, an experience that held deep meaning for her and was shared with a close group of friends who accompanied her.

Above all else, Myrna was devoted to her family. She was a loving mother to her sons, Kevin Earl Anderson and Greg Randolph Anderson, and an extraordinary grandmother to Ethan Earl Anderson, Emma Kathleen Anderson, Eliza Anne Anderson, Matthew Gregory Anderson, MaCall LaRue (Mikey) Spencer, and McCade Allen Anderson. She delighted in her great-grandchildren, Sophia and Harlie, whose laughter brought her immense joy, and she was eagerly anticipating the arrival of McCade's baby boy, due in June.

Myrna was preceded in death by her former husband, Norman Anderson; her grandparents, Alfred Earl Etherington and Margaret Dance Etherington; her mother, Margaret Etherington Nord; and her half-brother, Richard Nord.

She is survived by her sons; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her sisters, Betty Ann Nord and Barbara Nord; and her dear friend RaVae, who shared her love of nature, travel, and quiet moments spent watching wildlife.

Fiercely independent, deeply loyal, and endlessly generous with her love, Myrna will be profoundly missed.
