Neil W. Higley, of Ogden, Utah, died May 16, 2011, at the age of 81. He was born September 28, 1929, in Rupert, Idaho, to Ronald Neil and Maggie (Woodall) Higley, now deceased. Neil married Viola Nickerson and they moved to Ogden to raise their family. They had two sons, Owen LaVare Higley, and step son Charles Lee Sherwood. Neil served in the Navy from December 13, 1947 to November 27, 1951. He then gave the Federal Service another 26 years. He also owned his own business, Higleys Burgers. Neil enjoyed life! He liked hunting and fishing, but was quoted to say, My outside interest is centered mainly in enjoying life with my family.Neil was friendly and helpful with his neighbors and they in turn looked out for him as well. Those that rented his flower shop spoke highly of him as a landlord. Neil found a special friendship in June Pendleton, of Ogden. They enjoyed dinners and various activities. Neil will be missed by those he left behind; His son, Owen LaVare Higley, his brothers, Ronald and Glen Higley, his step sister, Bonnie Clark, and his longtime friend and companion June Pendleton. Those loved ones who will greet him on the other side will be his much loved wife, Viola Nickerson, his step son, Charles Lee Sherwood, his parents, Ronald Neil Higley, and step mother, Rosetta Baggett Higley, his sister Opal Arlene Phillips, his brother Carl Higley and his 4 step sisters and step brothers. Its comforting to recognize that we always have a circle of loved ones around us. Family will meet friends Wednesday, May 25, 2011 from 5-7 p.m. with funeral services following at 7:00 p.m. at Leavitts Mortuary, 836 36th Street, Ogden, Utah.
