With a smile as generous as his heart, Nicholas Newton Manning passed away too soon on June 6, 2025, at the age of 46. He was born on December 3, 1978, in Ogden, Utah.

Nicholas earned the rank of Eagle Scout and graduated from Bonneville High School. He went on to receive his Bachelor's degree from Weber State University and his Master's degree from the University of Scranton. A Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, he was, at the time of his passing, pursuing his Ph.D. in Public Health at Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health.

Nicholas began his professional journey in hospitality, where he worked with respected hotels and country clubs in Utah, Colorado, and Georgia. The skills he gained there provided a foundation for what became a distinguished career in healthcare leadership.

He devoted his career to healthcare, serving in key leadership roles across the United States: Chief Operating Officer at Rochester General Hospital (New York); Chief Operating Officer at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center (Idaho Falls, Idaho); and, most recently, Chief Executive Officer of West Valley Medical Center (Caldwell, Idaho). With a career spanning more than sixteen years with HCA Healthcare, Nicholas was admired not only for his vision and leadership but also for his steadfast dedication to improving hospitals, patient care, and the health of the communities he served.

It was Nicholas' pleasure to serve on the boards of Make-A-Wish, United Way, and the Idaho Falls Symphony, always seeking ways to give back. He found joy in the arts, music, and gardening. He also loved traveling, exploring the world and creating unforgettable memories with those he loved.

Nicholas' greatest legacy, however, is not just his professional success but the way he made others feel. He had a rare gift for making everyone feel seen, welcomed, and valued. His laughter, his passion for music, and his generous spirit will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and colleagues.

He is survived by his mother, Angee Farris; his father, Tim (Sue) Manning; his partner, William Rojas; his siblings, Molly (Nick) Engebos, Nan Sorenson, Mitchell (Noelle) Manning, and Maggee (Jason) Budge; as well as numerous nieces and nephews who adored their Uncle Nicholas. He is also survived by his beloved dogs, Cici, Chester, and Coco.

Celebration of Life: Snowbasin Ski Resort — Friday, September 12th, 4:00 p.m.–7:00 p.m.

Funeral Services: Leavitt's Mortuary, Ogden, Utah — Saturday, September 13th, 11:00 a.m.

Graveside Services will take place in Glenns Ferry, Idaho at 3:30 p.m.

The family will meet with friends one hour prior to services.
