Nola Kay Edson, 78, returned to her heavenly family on July 1, 2014. She was born in Ogden, UT on June 13, 1936 to Frederick Kay Edson and Belva (Hill) Edson. She was the eldest of three children. She graduated from Weber High School in 1954 and Weber State in 1955.
She worked as a secretary for Southern Pacific Railroad for 35 years as well as TRW, Inc. for 15 years.
She was a member of the Eastwood Ward in South Ogden where she served as the church organist for over thirty years. During that time, she also served as an organist at the Ogden Temple for 12 years. Nola Kay was a talented pianist and organist whose love for singing and music brought her through many cherished experiences and provided her with great joy. She donated her time and secretarial skills to serve in many positions throughout her life; including transcribing patriarchal blessings for the stake patriarch; and serving as secretary for the Union Pacific Old-Timers #6 Chapter, the National Association of Railroad Business Women, and the Yorkshire Meadows Condo Association.
Nola Kay was a dedicated Weber State Alumni Member and an avid sports fan. If Weber State had athletic season tickets for sale, then she was the first one in line to get them. She held season tickets to the Ogden Raptors and was a big fan of the Utah Jazz.
Although Nola Kay did not have any children, she supported, loved, and cared for her nephew and four nieces as if they were her own.
She is survived by her sister, Mary Lou (Edson) and Albert Vogrinec, Price, UT; brother, Bruce and Jeri Edson, St. George, UT; nephew, Griffen Kay and Sandra Edson, South Ogden, UT; niece, Nicky Vogrinec, Price, UT; niece, Wendee Edson, South Ogden, UT; niece, Erica Vogrinec, Price, UT; niece, Lori (Vogrinec) Sanchez, Albuquerque, N.M.; childhood and lifelong best friend, Irene Butler, Roy, UT; as well as many great nieces, nephews and loved ones.
