IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Noreen
Trappett Horning
August 19, 1943 – August 11, 2024
Ella Noreen Trappett Horning, 80, of Plain City, Utah, passed away on August 11, 2024, surrounded by her children after a long battle with kidney disease.
Noreen was born on August 19, 1943, to Ruland Henry and Wilma Marion Trappett in La Grande, Oregon. She graduated from Ben Lomond High School in 1961, having also earned her cosmetology license at that time. Noreen spent many years working as a hairdresser, where she made numerous lifelong friends. Later, she worked at Hill Air Force Base and subsequently transferred to the Internal Revenue Service, where she remained until her retirement in 2008.
Family was the cornerstone of Noreen's life. She deeply cherished her grandchildren and attended as many of their activities as possible. Noreen was also passionate about crocheting, creating blankets and other items with love. She enjoyed traveling and embarked on many adventures with family and friends. She was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. Her faith was-important to her, and she served in various capacities within the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, including a mission to Helsinki, Finland, and as a temple worker.
Noreen married Gary Lynn Homing on July 13, 1964, and they later divorced. Together, they had five children: Lynnette (Scott) Kirkwood Metzler, Paulette (Carl) Hadley, Ryan Horning, Russell (Tamara) Horning, and Rodney Horning.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ruland and Marion Trappett; her brothers, Ruland and Greg Trappett and sister, Gloria Trappett; and her grandson, Bryce Metzler.
She is survived by her five children, 22 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
Noreen's warm spirit and loving nature will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
