Parley Wayne Hansen June 18, 1928 - April 12, 2015 On April 12, 2015, Parley Wayne Hansen was reunited with his sweetheart Gwennie. Wayne was born June 18, 1928 to Richard and Myrtle Cecelia Johnson Hansen. He was born and raised in Ogden, Utah and graduated from Ogden High School in 1946, where he excelled in football as well as track and field. He then played football for two years at Weber College. He met the love of his life, Gwen Call, while attending Ogden High School. They were married on May 28, 1948 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple, where they were sealed for time and all eternity. That same year, Wayne started working for Pillsbury. He worked there for 42 years and retired in 1990. In 1950 Gwen and Wayne moved to Roy, Utah. In 1961 they purchased their farm and in 1964 they took over Cedar Crest Farm. Together with their six children they ran and continue to run a successful produce and livestock business. One of their greatest joys was every October being able to watch parents and children come to Cedar Crest Farm to pick out the perfect pumpkin. Wayne and Gwen enjoyed traveling with his brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Pauline Hansen, as well as their good friends, Elwin and Darlene Johnson. Wayne was active in the LDS Church. He served in many callings, including the conducting of sacrament meetings for over 15 years at the Weber Memorial Hospital, serving in the Bishopric of the Roy 6th Ward and serving with Gwen in the Special Needs Ward. Wayne and Gwen served in the Little Rock Arkansas LDS Mission from 1994 to 1995. Wayne also served on the Roy City Planning Commission from 1975 to 1984. Wayne enjoyed spending time with his family. Whether this time was spent on the farm or on one of the many fishing or hunting trips, he always made time for his family. He was very supportive of his children and grandchildren and would often travel to watch them participate in sports and other events. Wayne enjoyed teaching his grandkids how to fish, hunt and the art of hoeing. There were many hours spent on the farm and many precious memories made. Hard work and serving others were qualities that Wayne displayed and passed on to his children and grandchildren. Wayne is survived by his children: Kevin (Shauna) Hansen, Scott (Donell) Hansen, Kenney (Kay) Hansen, Shaunna (Richard) Wassom, Craig (Jacque) Hansen and Paul (Elaine) Hansen. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law; Noreen Peterson, Lois Call and Beverly Call; and brother-in-law Larry Call. Wayne leaves behind a legacy of 26 grandchildren, 56 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Wayne was preceded in death by his loving wife of 63 years, Gwen Call Hansen; his parents, Richard and Myrtle Hansen; his sister Arlene Hansen and his brother Richard L. Hansen; sisters-in law, Pauline Hansen, Jeannie Call and Karen Call; brothers-in-law Steven Call, Ralph Call, Dee Call and Ted Peterson. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, April 20, 2015 at 11:00 am at the Cedar Crest LDS Ward, 3845 South 2000 West, Roy, UT. A viewing will be held on Sunday, April 19, 2015 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Leavitts Mortuary, 836 36th Street, Ogden, UT. Friends and family may also call prior to the funeral service at the Cedar Crest Ward from 9:00 to 10:30 am. Interment in the Ogden City Cemetery. The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff at Peach Tree Assisted Living and to Hospice for Utah for the kindness and care extended to Wayne during these last few months.
