Patricia Edna Schanuel Koenig, passed away Thursday, June 1, 2017 surrounded by her family after fighting a very difficult, but courageous battle with breast cancer for the past 3 years. Pat was born June 3, 1940 to Irvin and Mabel Schanuel in Belleville, IL. She attended Belleville West High School where she met and ultimately married her sweetheart, Roger C Koenig. Mom and Dad were married September 12, 1959 and were blessed with five wonderful kids that live within 20 miles of them. She was very proud of her 19 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. In 1968 they uprooted their three kids and moved across the country to Ogden UT with Dads job at Browning. Mom remained a full time homemaker welcoming their fourth and fifth children thereafter. Mom lived for her kids and grandchildren. She never missed a birthday or special occasion and looked forward to having all of them at her home for every holiday. Her joy was teaching the grandchildren card games and getting together at the Flaming Gorge cabin. Mom made every attempt to attend every sports game, tumbling event, dance recital and special event that any grandchild was having. Mom enjoyed all the fishing/hunting trips and was fortunate to travel with our Dad. If Mom didnt receive a call from one of her daughters daily, she found a reason to call them. Dad says that Mom allowed the umbilical cord to be stretched, but never severed! Mom is survived by her husband of 57 years and children: Robin and Morris Hastings, Kay and Eric Satterthwaite, Doug and Brenda Koenig, Beth (Campbell) and Scott Birch, and Jill and Justin Tobias. She also leaves a void in all her grandchildrens hearts. She was preceded in death by her parents, in-laws, and a brother, Ralph Schanuel. We would like to pass on our appreciation to Dr. Vincent Hansen and Dr. Leslye Ingersoll and staff. Mom sure loved the chemo girls and all those that cared for her! A viewing and celebration of our Mother will be held Wednesday, June 7, 2017 from 6:00 8:00 pm at Leavitts Mortuary, 836 36th Street, in Ogden. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, June 8, 2017 at 11:00 am at Community United Methodist Church, 163 E 4800 S, in Washington Terrace. An additional viewing will be held from 10:00 - 10:45 am the day of the Funeral Services Interment will be at the Leavitts Aultorest Memorial Cemetery.
