Obituary

Patricia "Pat" Loftus, 82, of Ogden, Utah, passed away on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, from causes incident to age.

Pat was born on May 13, 1941, to Adelbert and Lucille (Willard) Loftus. Although burdened with severe cerebral palsy, she never let that slow her down. She was a perfect mixture of "sweet and sassy." Her tenacity kept her going for all these years. The doctors said she would never make it to 20 years old. She proved them wrong, didn't she!! Loved by all who knew her, she returned that love with her whole heart but, was never above the occasional "Need a hit kid?" And kept us all in line!

She loved SHOES, books, dolls, kids, pennies, light brights, playing cards, coloring, watching football and bossing her family around.

We were so blessed to have her in our lives! She taught us about disabilities, compassion, service with a smile, humor in hard times, friendship, independence, patience, and love. She taught us by her example, to push through our trials. She was so much more than an aunt to her nieces and nephews. She was more like a sibling. She would give 'em a whack when they deserved it (teasing is a constant in our family) but, her tenderness when they were sad was given in full measure. Sometimes, she would pull them onto her lap (yes, even the big 'ol teenagers) and rock them in her chair and sing her version of "Rock-a-bye Baby". She could be the slowest one around when she wasn't in the mood to do something but, her speed at getting down the hallway when she wanted to show off for the "honey kid" neighbor boys was astonishing. She was infamous for pinching bums or saying "woo hoo kid" to guys in the family and making them blush. Her contagious giggles are some of our best memories!

Pat is survived by her three brothers, Dean (Linda) Loftus of North Ogden, Keith (Margo) Loftus of Clovis California, and Bruce (Margo) Loftus of Plain City. And many loving nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents and 5 nephews.

We love you, Pat, and are so blessed to know your beauty and strength! Many people have expressed that, "The experience of living with and getting love from you has shaped who we are." We will miss you but find peace thinking about the reunion you are having in heaven. That would be quite a vision to behold! Along with, your renewed ability to stand, walk, and run to your parents. The ability to share your thoughts and sing with the angels. We all look forward to seeing you with those capabilities.

The family wishes to thank ALL of those who cared for her throughout the years. We love and appreciate you!
