Obituary

John Ernest Ackerman and Patsy Ruth Toombs Ackerman left this world on Friday, April 29, 2011 just a few hours apart to be reunited with each other again. John was born March 23, 1928 to Rudolph and Maria Ackerman in Loop City, Nebraska. Patsy was born April 20, 1929 to William and Harriet Toombs in Wells, Nevada. John later moved to Wells where he met and married Patsy Toombs on July 10, 1948. They continued their journey to Ogden Utah where John started his career with the Union Pacific Railroad and Patsy worked at Grants department store and the IRS. John served his Country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He received an honorable discharge. John and Patsy enjoyed fishing and camping trips with their family and friends. They were avid Jazz fans and never missed an Ogden Raptors game. John was a very special man who was always willing to help someone in need. John was a true craftsman who enjoyed remodeling houses and fixing cars with son, Tim. He also enjoyed the special times he had fishing with his daughter, Tina. Patsy enjoyed playing games with her children and was the foundation of the family. John and Patsy looked forward to the time they spent with their granddaughter, Rashelle and their great grand children Caiden and Kaiya who were their pride and joy. John touched many peoples lives by his kindness and generosity. Patsy served her community as a volunteer at St. Benedicts Hospital. John and Patsy are both survived by their son Tim (Marjorie) Ackerman and their daughter Tina Ackerman. Also surviving is their granddaughter Rashelle Wilde (Damon), 2 great grand children and many nieces and nephews. They were preceded in death by their great grandson Carson Craig Wilde. John is preceded in death by his parents and his siblings Hank, Alfred, Isabelle, Lucy, Clarence and Clara. He is survived by his siblings Blanche and Stanley. Patsy is preceded in death by her parents and her siblings Louise, Madge, Betty, Alta, Bill and Fred. The family would like to give a special thanks to the IHC Hospice nurses Heidi, Debbie, Ashlin and Camille for their incredible care and support given to our parents and to us. We also, would like to thank our friends and family who provided support through these tough times. Services will be held Thursday, May 5, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Leavitts Mortuary, 836 36th Street, Ogden; family and friends may visit one hour prior.Interment at Washington Heights Cemetery.
