Obituary

I, Paul Aranthon Jacobs, ran into the arms of my beloved and waiting Martha, after I breathed my last breath in mortality. I was born March 7, 1940 to Adam A. Jacobs and Beth Johnson in Ogden, Utah. There were four children born to that union: Dennis, Paul, Kaye, and Curtis.

I graduated from Davis High School in 1958 - "Go Darts"! - and went to Weber State University.

I had a wonderful childhood, idyllic in so many ways. It was also laced with some harrowing experiences. I learned to play the trombone and loved being in the junior and senior high school bands. I often pantomimed in front of school assemblies and social groups. I enjoy making people laugh and helping them forget their troubles for a short time.

I married Martha Kathleen Udink on July 30, 1966, in Ely, Nevada. We were sealed in the Logan, Utah L.D.S. temple for time and all eternity on September 25, 1967. The Lord honored us with three wonderful children. How blessed I feel.

Together we tried our hands at several businesses before I started working for the government. I worked for DLA (Defense Logistic Agency) for 24 years before retiring. We were always blessed to have work.

While young, Martha and I moved several places in Davis and Weber County. Through several miracles from Heaven, we ended up in Plain City, Utah. It was there that we raised our family. I loved Plain City. Our lives there flourished. It holds a special place in my heart. We moved once more before settling in Westwood Village in Farr West, Utah.

Martha and I have been lifelong members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I was the secretary for many quorum leaderships both in Plain City, and Farr West. My patriarchal blessing says that my voice "will be heard beyond the bounds of the sea". Oh how I wanted this to be true but wondered how this could be. Thanks to the wonders of technology, I have shared my testimony and witness of Jesus Christ with a handful of people in various parts of the world. It came true! My testimony of Jesus Christ has helped me and sustained me and kept me going. It has been a fulfilling life.

I am preceded in death by my parents and my beloved Martha. Surviving are our children, Michael (Sherry), Melissa (David), Pendergast, Brad (Aimee, deceased), twelve grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren. Also surviving are my brothers Dennis (Carolyn), Curtis (Jolene) and Kaye (Wayne) Volk.

See ya on the other side,

Paul Aranthon
