Paul Dale Herbert passed away October 28, 2013. He was born August 25, 1938 to Ralph and Janet Herbert in Ogden, Utah. Paul graduated from Ogden High School. He married Shirley Larsen. In his early years as a new husband and father he worked diligently at three jobs to provide for his family. He was a Barber and worked at Union Pacific Railroad. and was on the ski patrol. Paul was always kind, so happy and adventurous so much that his wife entitled him "Awful Knawful" after Evil Knievel the daredevil of his time. Ever the devoted husband, father and grandfather he raised his two children with never ending love and caring. As a consequence they both have beautiful families of their own. In February of 1966, he started working at Hill Air Force Base, he was declarated for his cooperation and dependable support he provided to the United States Air Force and the technical coordination program as a civil servant. In the latter years of his career, he worked specifically with the F-16s and traveled all over the world. He tried to the fullest to enjoy his retirement, traveling, hunting, fishing and enjoying his time at Bear Lake and time with his children. But he never stopped mourning the death of his wife who left this world too soon at the age of 48 in 1990. The family is rejoicing that mom and dad are finally reunited and smiling from above. Near the end of his life, he was blessed to have his family there at his side as he passed peacefully in his sleep. Paul is survived by his son Dee Paul Herbert and wife, Alicia; daughter, Penny Herbert Mader and husband, Bill; one grandson, two granddaughters, two great granddaughters and his eldest brother Ralph Herbert. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife Shirley Herbert, his mother and father and two sisters. Graveside service will be on Thursday, October 31, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Leavitts Aultorest Memorial Park, 836 36th Street, Ogden, Utah.
