Obituary

Paul Parkinson Jennens, 92, of Ogden, UT, died peacefully on July 17, 2013, following a brief illness. He was born on December 8, 1920, to Arthur Emil and Winnifred Parkinson Jennens, in Santa Monica, CA. The second of six children, he grew up in Los Angeles and Detroit and later graduated from University of Michigan with a degree in chemical engineering. He served in the United States Navy during World War II performing scientific research at Bell Laboratories. He served an LDS mission in the Pacific Northwest states and was a faithful member of the Ogden 33rd /Taylor Canyon Ward for many years, acceptingcallings asward clerk andstake missionary. Paul married his sweetheart Geraldine Bingham in the Logan LDS temple on October 2, 1959. Shepreceded him in death on November 1, 2011, and we imagine their reunion with joy. He worked at Hill Air Force Base for somethirtyyears, winning an award for his work ondevelopment of the Sidewinder missile. An engineer to his core, he relaxed by conducting experiments on oil shale,solvingjigsaw puzzles and playingsolitaire. After winning a fudge-making contest in college, he considered it his culinary specialty and often treated friends and family members. A gentle man who mostenjoyed simple pleasures, he was never happier than when he was walking a golf courseor eating an ice cream cone or McDonalds hamburger. Paul was also preceded in death by his parents and brother. He is survived by four sisters and his children Paul Jennens, Arthur (Melanie) Jennens, and Nancy (Buck) Nieraeth, andfivegrandchildren: Ryan, Tyler, Jacob, Bennett and Rachael.In recent years, he especiallyenjoyed the care and attention ofhis nieces Karen, Mejken, Dixie, and Mary. We wish to thank the staff of Lotus Park Assisted Livingand the nursesof ThatcherBrookHome Healthfor their lovingservice to our father and grandfather. A service of dedicationwill be held for family members on Monday, July 22, at 10 a.m. with interment to followat Aultorest Memorial Park.
