Phillip Dee Wheelwright's Obituary

Phillip Dee Wheelwright, age 79, passed away in his home on June 17, 2017. He was born on September 12, 1937 to Heber Togy and Greta Johnson Wheelwright. He grew up in the Ogden area, graduating from Ogden High School. He married Sharon Bodily on September 22, 1960. Together they raised five children. Sharon passed away in 1985. Phil met Beverley Reeve and they were married in 1986. Together they successfully blended her five children with his five children into one family. Beverley passed away in 2003. Phil worked most of his life for the Department of Defense, traveling in the early years to military locations throughout the United States. He spent most of his career at Hill Air Force Base, where he worked as an aircraft electrician and as a computer technician. Phil was very handy and a skilled craftsman. He taught his children how to repair and care for their vehicles, to build things with their bare hands, to fix broken things around the house, how to use a dictionary and Encyclopedia and countless other life lessons. He assisted Shanna and Steve in building their first home. He was a jack of all trades. He could build or fix anything. In-fact he was a lifetime member of the Handyman Club of America. He had a true love for music. His children have many memories of him playing his vinyl records and his variety in musical tastes, from Big Bands and Classical to Broadway Show Tunes. With that love he created his own business, Wheelwright Lighting & Sound. Doing the sound for the Ogden Pioneer Days Rodeos, circuses, mud races, and numerous plays and musicals. He had a fondness for working with the North Davis Special Needs Mutual on their plays each year. One event he looked forward to doing each year, and did for the past 39 years, was The Hunt Family Miracle of Christmas Pageant. Through his business he made many friends and acquaintances that he enjoyed throughout his life. He spent many hours with his children working alongside him on sound and lighting jobs, where he taught them many skills. He is survived by his children; Marty (Susan), Lissa (Jim) Baddley, Bradley, Suzie Moore, Steve Hemmelgarn (son-in-law), John (Laurel) Reeve, Paul (Stephanie) Reeve, Teri Lyn (Jeff) Anderson, Scott (Jamie) Reeve, and Steve (Mandy) Reeve. Many grand kids and great grand kids. He was proceeded in death by his parents, brothers Curt & Allen, both Sharon and Beverley, and most recently his daughter Shanna Hemmelgarn.
