Phyllis Gertrude Coverdell Smith, beloved wife of Doyle George Smith, passed away peacefully on October 12, 2018, in Clinton, Utah. She was born on September 21, 1929, in Sterling, Colorado to Vern Austin and Gertrude Paula (Kaiser) Coverdell. She grew up in Sterling, Colorado. She and Doyle married September 3, 1950, in Denver, Colorado and raised their family in Colorado. She graduated from the University of Colorado with her BS degree as a Registered Nurse, then worked for numerous doctors in Longmont, Colorado. Phyllis served in many church callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was an accomplished seamstress and loved to crochet and made special blankets, hats, and crafts for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her children; Deborah K. (Bill) Blick; Pamela S. (Merrill) Smith; Lisa L. (Bill) Lewellen; Doyle M. (Diane) Smith; Kimberly A. (Scott) Hopfenbeck; 20 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren and one sister, Barbara Ellen Naurath. Deepest thanks to Country Pines and Envision Hospice care and their staffs for their compassionate service. A viewing will be held from 11:30 12:30 pm on Friday, October 19, 2018, at Leavitts Mortuary, 836 36th Street, Ogden, UT with Funeral Services following at 1:00 pm.
