Priscilla Lorraine Smith's Obituary

Priscilla Lorraine Allen Smith (Pat or Patty to family and friends), beloved wife and mother, passed away on March 12, 2018. Born to Charles William Allen and Luenita Twitchell Allen in Ogden, Utah on September 10, 1928, she was a child of the Great Depression. As a result, she developed many practical skills and talents that she more than willingly shared with anyone who wanted to learn. In 1948, mom met her eternal sweetheart, William (Bill) Harold Smith, and they were married on November 20, 1948, in Evanston, Wyoming. Dad spent twenty-six years in the U.S. Army and, as they raised their seven children, they moved many times throughout the United States, as well as spending 18 months on Okinawa and 12 months in Germany. Even with all the moves the family made, Mom always was able to make home a haven for her family and many friends. Mom was a skilled pianist and used that talent to serve in her church for much of her life. She also taught piano lessons for many years. She loved art and was a talented oil painter and sketch artist. She also taught a class in oil painting. Sewing was another talent she developed and she sewed everything from throw pillows and totes to complicated clothing and quilts. Crochet, knitting, cooking, and especially reading anything and everything that was virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, were just a few of the many things that she loved, and she happily shared her knowledge freely. Mom had a great love for children and made sure her posterity knew that she loved them and that she was very interested in their lives. Whenever possible, she would travel to wherever there was a baptism, concert, play, wedding, or any other important event in their lives. As a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Mom held many callings over the years, to which she enthusiastically gave her all. She was a committed genealogist and compiled treasures of family history for her posterity, which blessed many loved ones on the other side of the Veil, making sure their temple work was completed. She was a member of DUP (Daughters of Utah Pioneers) for many years and served in several positions within that organization. On December 21, 2007, Mom and Dad were sealed for time and all eternity in the Ogden Temple. Mom will be sorely missed by all who have been touched by her generous and loving spirit. She is survived by her brother, Larry (Mary) Allen; her children, Brien (Linda) Smith, Carrie Smith Hare, Peggy (Chuck) Smith Turner, Paul (Arlee) Smith, Becky (David) Smith Wagner, Fran (Joel) Smith Nowland, and Mark (Shauna) Smith; 29 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren. We love you, Mom! Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m, Saturday, the 17th of March, at Burch Creek 5th Ward, 4955 Adams Avenue, South Ogden, Utah.
