Obituary

Rasheed Abdul-Aleem Kennedy of Ogden, UT passed away on July 20, 2023 at the age of 44 after a valiant fight against diabetes. Rasheed was born on July 17, 1979 to Michael Danny Kennedy and Yvette Gail James in Ogden, Utah. Rasheed graduated from Ogden High School in 1997. Rasheed had a son, Kobe Kennedy, with Jennie Cantrell. Later, was married to Kelli Lancaster in 2015 with whom he had a second son, Cyrus Kennedy. Rasheed enjoyed music, performing, dancing and specially making everyone laugh. He played football and basketball. One of his greatest joys in life was spent on the football fields watching and coaching his sons. Rasheed had a larger-than-life personality with a joyful, funny and passionate heart. He loved hard and he fought hard, which was his hallmark in life. He played football, but his favorite sport was basketball where he was silky on the basketball court and had some of the best handles out there. If you asked him, he created the Hesi Crossover. Rasheed absolutely loved spending time with his wife Kelly and sons as well as playing with his dogs Abel, Athena and Kingston. He loved hitting the streets and letting his dreads flow in the wind as he mashed his Harley around town. His biggest passion in life was his music. He had such great experiences rapping and jumping in cyphers and doing shows from Idaho to Utah. He had such a way of sharing his life, his pain and his heart through his music. The best dancer in the family, he always had a knack of being able to brighten up the room with jokes and witty comments. He cherished the long and short talks with his nieces Taya, Aleia and LaKayla. He loved family! Rasheed was preceded in death by his father, Michael Danny Kennedy, grandfather, Curtis James Sr., grandmothers, Dorothy "Dottie" Kennedy, Elizabeth Mary Teachey; 2 uncles, William Walter James, Kenneth Bernard James and his BrotherHood brother Troy Butterfield. He is survived by his mother, Yvette Gail James Kennedy, brother, William Rashad Kennedy, 2 sons, Kobe and Cyrus Kennedy; nieces, Taya Kennedy, Aleia Kennedy and Lakayla Kennedy, grand aunts and uncles, a host of cousins, as well as many other nieces and nephews from his marriage to Kelli.
