Raymond Calvin
Peterson
Jan 23, 1950 — Jun 25, 2026
Monday
Leavitt's Mortuary & Aultorest Memorial Park
Starts at 11:00 am (Mountain time)
The sun has set and another star shines brightly in the sky as another of God’s children returns home. Raymond Calvin Peterson (Ray), age 76, passed away peacefully with his wife at his side on June 25, 2026.
Raymond was born to Raymond Peterson and Ruth Mary Sainsbury on January 23, 1950, in Ogden, Utah. He was a brother to Beccy, Kathy, and Kent. Ray graduated from Clearfield High School class of 1968, and then joined the Marine Corps, serving in the Vietnam war.
Ray was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and at a church dance he met the love of his life, Beverly Johnson. They were sealed together on September 30, 1971, in the Logan Temple. They were blessed with five wonderful children; Jean (Rick), Dian (John), Jill, John (Milene) and Aron (Shannon), along with 8 grandchildren.
Ray held several different jobs throughout his life including aircraft sheet metal worker, welder, machinist, environmental service technician at the VA, and computer technician. He was happy when his personal computer got a bug that needed fixing and was able to reformat his whole computer.
Summers would find him camping, fishing and enjoying the outdoors with his family. He enjoyed cooking (including researching pioneer recipes with weird measurements), growing different plants, making homemade jelly and fudge.
He will best be remembered for the jokes he told to everyone. His goal was to change the world one smile at a time. He was able to brighten many lives with that goal.
He has joined his parents, stepmother Fay, sister Beccy, and daughter Jean in the afterlife where he will continue to change the world one smile at a time.
A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, August 3, 2026, at Leavitt’s Mortuary, 836 36th Street Ogden, UT 84403, with graveside services and inurnment to follow at Leavitt's Aultorest Memorial park, at the same location.
A special thanks to the people and staff of Active Hospice and Harrison Pointe for all the care and support they provided to Ray and his family.
