Raymond Vigil passed away peacefully due to old age. Ray was born to Hosay Elfido Vigil and Merina Martinez and raised in Espanoyla, New Mexico where he met his beautiful wife Simodosea (Borcie) Vigil. They were married on December 6, 1945 in Velarde New Mexico. They later moved to Ogden where he raised his six children.
He had 14 brothers and sisters: Carmelita, Lila, Elfido, Lidia, George, Ross, Leo, Sam, Danny, Pete, Frank, Rubin and Maria.
He was in the Navy. He worked at Hill AFB as a welder for 44 years, was a professional boxer for 30 years and at one time was a sparring partner with Gene Fullmer. He was a member of the Ogden Sheriffs Department, enjoyed gambling, bingo and traveling with his wife to many places throughout the world and the United States. He loved hunting and fishing with his family.
Raymond is survived by son Allan (Pepper); daughters June Trujillo and Lorie (Khaled) Al-Olayan; 14 grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren.
Ray was preceded in death by his wife Borcie; daughters Kathy and Mickie; son Ronald Vigil; and grandson Robert Vigil.
A Vigil and Rosary will be held Sunday, January 6, 2019 at Leavitts Mortuary, 836 36th St., Ogden, UT from 6:00 8:00 pm with the Rosary at 7:30 pm. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Josephs Catholic Church, 514 24th St., Ogden, UT on Monday, January 7, 2019 at 11:00 am.
Interment Ogden City Cemetery.
