Obituary

SOUTH OGDEN Raymond Foster White, 94, passed away peacefully on August 31, 2014, surrounded by his family. He was born on July 6, 1920, the second son to Charles and Eva White. Raymond grew up in Fruita Colorado where he was raised by his Grandmother, Ellen White Kilby. He graduated from Fruita High School in 1938. On July 15, 1938, he married Naomi Gerry in Denver, Colorado. Naomi passed away in 1992. On February 23, 1995, he married Patricia Vredenburg in Las Vegas, NV. His first employment was at the Albany Hotel in Denver, Colorado. He also worked in the lead, silver and uranium mines in Nevada and Colorado. He received his single engine pilots license and was co-owner of a 4-place Piper aircraft. He flew extensively in the Intermountain West. Raymond served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II from 1944 to 1946. He was stationed at Hamilton Field and flew numerous missions throughout the South Pacific. After serving his country, Raymond and Naomi moved to Ogden, Utah where they raised their three sons, Gerry, Kim, Jon and daughter, Karen. He attended Weber College where he received an associate degree. Ray was employed by the Depot of Defense at Hill Air Force Base as Chief of Aircraft and Missile Quality Control. He attended Executive Management Courses at Utah State, University of Utah and BYU. He retired after 33 years of service. After retirement from Hill AFB, Ray formed a company, Utah Building Structure (construction and steel building sales). He retired from that business after 10 years. Raymond was a member in good standing of the Ogden Eagles and Elks Clubs and was active in the Ogden Exchange Club. Ray was active in all facets of the Masonic family locally and throughout the state. He attained 33rd Degree honors in the Scottish Rite. Raymond was Past Potentate of El Kalah Shrine; Past President of the Ogden Shrine Club, El Kalah Mounted Patrol, and Cabiri (A.A.O.N.M.S.) He was a member of the Past Masters Shrine Club, Council of Anointed High Priests of Utah, Order of the Silver Trowel, the Thrice Illustrious Masters, and the Royal Order of Jesters. He also served as the Past Commander in the Holy Royal Arch Knight Templar Priests of Utah, Past Sovereign Bonneville Conclave Red Cross of Constantine, Advisor for the Ogden Chapter DeMolay and was a member of the DeMolay Legion of Honor. He also involved with the Past Patron of the Order of Eastern Star, having served twice as Patron of Miriam Chapter #14, O.E.S, as well as Past Associate Guardian of Jobs Daughters, Bethel #14 and Grand Guardian Committees. Raymond was a faithful member of the Community United Methodist Church in Washington Terrace. His Pew Dues are paid up for a life-time. He served his church in many ways over the years and was currently on the Finance Committee, where his sage advice was always welcomed and usually heeded. Ray enjoyed spending time in the mountains horseback riding & camping with his family and friends. He loved traveling, which he did extensively, around the world. He especially loved spending time on Maui with Patricia. Raymond touched so many people with his loving, joking manner. He leaves a huge void in many organizations and peoples lives. He will be greatly missed by all. Raymond was preceded in death by his first wife, Naomi; parents; brother Frank; and daughter Karen. He leaves behind his wife of 20 years, Patricia. His three sons, Gerry (Judy), Brenda, AZ; Kim (Marsha) Ogden, UT; Jon (Cindy) Ogden, UT; and son-in-law Bob Stevenson (Patsy) Clinton, UT; his brother, Ken (Virginia) of Klamath Falls, OR; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; a very dear neighbor, Linda Binkley and a beloved pet, Babbett. Funeral Services will be held Friday, September 5, 2014, at 2:00 p.m., at the Community United Methodist Church, 163 West 4800 South, Washington Terrace UT. A viewing for family and friends will be held Thursday evening, September 4, 2014, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Leavitts Mortuary, 836 36th Street, Ogden, UT and from 1:00 to 1:45 p.m. on Friday at the church prior to services. Interment at Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd., Ogden UT. Arrangements under the direction of Leavitts Mortuary.
