Obituary

Renato Miconi, 85, and Luigina "Gina" Fioramonti Miconi, 84, passed away on November 29, 2025, leaving this world within hours of each other, just as they had lived for more than 65 years: together.

Renato was born on September 22, 1940, in Rome, Italy, to Ernesta and Alfredo Miconi. The youngest in his family, he lost his mother when he was still a toddler and his father at just 16, leaving him orphaned far too young. Despite these early heartbreaks, Renato remained close to his siblings who helped shape him into the humble, hardworking, and resilient man he became.

Luigina, born on October 26, 1941, in Artena, Italy to Orlandina and Setimo Fioramonti, was also the youngest in her family. She grew up the daughter of a farmer in a small mountain town, where life was simple but often difficult. Gina spoke frequently of the hardships her family faced, memories that left her with a strength, and the fiery determination that would later define her. These early experiences made her into someone who loved fiercely, worked tirelessly, and protected her family with everything she had.

Renato and Gina met in the summer of 1960 and married December 18th in Artena, beginning a lifelong partnership marked by loyalty, resilience, humor, and an unwavering devotion to each other. Their marriage weathered heartbreak early on with the stillbirth of their first son, Mario. They later welcomed three more rowdy boys, Giorgio, Marco, and Dean "Dino", raising their sons with devotion, hard work, and the values they held closest. For Renato and Gina, family was everything.

In 1969, they made the courageous decision to move their family to the United States, where Renato went to work with his brother, Geno, at Miconi Tile. Renato became known as a master tile setter, an artist in his trade, whose craftsmanship can still be found in countless homes and buildings throughout the Wasatch Front and in Italy. He passed his trade and knowledge of the industry to all three of his boys and two of his grandsons. Quiet and humble, he found joy in reading, studying history, collecting coins, bowling, fishing, spending time in the mountains, and tending to his yard. His steady presence brought calm and comfort to all who knew him.

Gina worked for 40 years at Model Linen Service, forming lifelong friendships and finding real joy in her work. Even after retiring, she often talked about wanting to go back because she missed the people so much. At home, she was the vibrant center of every gathering, the life of the party, always dancing, singing, laughing, or telling you exactly what she thought. Fiercely protective and fiercely loving, she was affectionately known as our "spicy little Italian." Her cooking was legendary; she poured love into every meal, telling those she fed "mangia, mangia!"

Renato and Gina are survived by their sons, their daughter-in-law Jeri, and their grandchildren: Sara (Clint), Karlie (Billy), Jordan (Tessa), Myles, Zachary, and Christian (Derek); along with ten great-grandchildren and many extended family and friends who cherished them. They were preceded in death by their infant son Mario, their beloved daughter-in-law Tina, their parents, and their brothers and sisters.

Renato known fondly as "the Dog Father," had a deep love for dogs, often more than for people. His loyal companion, Bosco, brought both of them comfort, purpose, and joy in their final years. Bosco stayed faithfully by their side until the very end; he will now enjoy a well-earned retirement with their granddaughter.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Legacy House of Ogden for bringing moments of joy during their final months. Your patience, kindness, and love meant more than words can express. We are also deeply grateful to Davik, Tammy, and Alisha with Inspiration Home Health and Hospice for the comfort, dignity, and attentive care they provided.

Renato and Luigina's passing on the same day reads like the final verses of a love story. From the moment their paths crossed, their lives moved in harmony, shaped by hardship, strengthened by devotion, and made whole with each other. After sixty-five years of always walking side by side, it feels only natural that they found their way into the next life the same way. Their love was the quiet kind, the steady kind, the kind that endures every storm and still chooses to stay.
