Obituary

Early Wednesday, April 17, 2024, Reta Loie Prescott (Lewis) loving wife and mother of seven somewhat wild children, passed away at the age of 75.

Loie was born on February 8, 1949, in Evanston, Wyoming to Robert and Reta (Henderson) Lewis. She had five siblings, Mazie, Bill, Ruth, Joe, and Richard. After Loie graduated high school she worked at the Uinta County State Bank with her dad, until she went on vacation to visit a friend in Hawaii and decided to stay. During this time, she met and soon married Joseph Matisohn II in Oahu, HI, on June 14, 1969 (Divorced). They had three lovely children – Joseph Michael (Mike), Nicole Marie, and Reta Catherine (Katie) Matisohn.

After the divorce from Joe, she and her three kids made their way back to Wyoming and soon met Richard (Rick) Prescott. Rick (Sue) had two kids, Richard Amos (Ricky ne' Jake)(Jennifer) and Miranda Mae (Mandee). After some hardcore wooing from Rick, the two married and became a big, blended family. If you thought five kids were enough, you'd be wrong; they soon welcomed bouncing baby boys, Noah Lewis (Lindsay) and Zachary (Zach) Robert to the mix.

Loie worked as a bank teller, as the neighborhood Avon lady, and sold jewelry. Her most meaningful and important job though, was being a mother. She loved all her children fiercely. She supported them, fought for them, cared for them, listened to them, cooked and cleaned for them, gave them hugs, gave them rides. She did it all. All for love.

Let's not forget about her husband, Rick. Rick and Loie were married January 30, 1981 (44 years) and were a match from the beginning. Rick's wicked sense of humor, sense of hard work, and kindness and Loie's quiet wit and sarcasm matched with her sweetness and loving nature made them a great couple. Raising seven children was no easy feat, but they did it and created seven amazing humans. Over the last several years, as Loie's health declined, Rick was there for every moment, every meal, every glass of water, every ER, every rehab, he was there for her for every step, loving her. He was her everything.

Rick and Loie have five grandchildren, Shayna Brianne (Mike), Miikael Richard (Mandee), Jamison Joseph, Jacob Darren (Noah), and Maceo Loie (Katie). And great grandson, Sawyer Joseph Kent (Shayna & Bryce).

Loie was preceded in death by her son, Mike, her parents, Robert (Bob) and Reta, her sister Mazie, and brother Bill.

She is survived by her daughters, Nicole, Katie and Mandee, sons Jake, Noah, and Zach and all of her grandchildren.

Fulfilling Loie's wishes, no funeral will be held, however a private viewing for family will be held at 9:00 a.m. and a graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 23 at Leavitt's Mortuary & Aultorest Memorial Park, 836 36th Street Ogden, UT, 84403.
